Phylogenetic implications of Eshanosaurus

edit

If Eshanosaurus is really a therizinosaur, it would complicate the therizinosaur cladogram because it is older than Falcarius, the first therizinosaur of the Cretaceous period. The placement of Eshanosaurus within Therizinosauria follows Kirland et. al. (2005) and Xu et. al. (2002).

Xu X., Zhang X.-H., Sereno, P., Zhao, X-J., Kuang, Xu.-W., Han, J.& Tan, L., 2002: A new therizionosauroid (Dinosauria, Theropoda) from the Upper Cretaceous Iren Dabau Formation of Nei Mongol. –Vertebrate Palasiatica: Vol.40, #3, pp. 228-240

To be honest, I haven't got a clue on whether Eshanosaurus is prosauropod or therizinosaur. I personally lean towards prosauropod (the idea of an Early Jurassic therizinosaur just seems...weird), but a lot of paleontologists want to go the other way. In summary: the debate continues. I hope this will be resolved soon, it gives me headaches... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Crimsonraptor (talkcontribs) 22:28, 2 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Eshanosaurus is not a Jurassic Therizinosaur

edit

It is not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.26.97.4 (talk) 20:14, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Therapod?

edit

As we cannot be sure that Eshanosaurus is a Therapod, as opposed to a sauropodomorph, is it possible to place a question mark after theropod? 121.200.209.21 (talk) 23:19, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

From what I gather, it isn't really doubted it was a theropod anymore. FunkMonk (talk) 00:33, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
