"Of London"
edit"Esher is an outlying suburb of London" makes it sound like it's a part of London. Shouldn't this be clarified? Perhaps "Esher is a suburb outside London"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.192.175.134 (talk) 19:24, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
- I have moved this to put it in date order. A suburb is necessarily part of a conurbation. The London conurbation is now considerably larger than the Greater London area and I, like the person who wrote the original sentence, feel that Esher is part of it, although right on the very edge. I do not live there, though I am not far away, but if I did, I should prefer it to be called an outer suburb rather than a dormitory town. LynwoodF (talk) 20:36, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
Questionable statement (History section)
editIn the 16th century King Henry VIII annexed several of the manors to the Honour of Hampton Court to form a royal hunting ground, and new residences were permitted by a number of wealthy courtesans.
I have raised a citation need against this sentence as I particularly question the accuracy of the last word which I suspect may be a malapropism for "courtiers". Were these people actually "courtesans", then Esher has a past as a high-class red light district servicing the richer menfolk of Hampton Court!Cloptonson (talk) 10:43, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
