Population
editEsperance's population is 9,536. That's the urban area, which includes at least the town, if not more. See [1]. Even the population of the Shire of Esperance is less than 15,000 (it is nearly 13,000). Guy0307 (talk) 20:29, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- You're entirely correct. We seem to get this problem a lot on town/city articles with people getting a bit overexcited about the size of the thing. Strangely, they're *never* underestimates. Orderinchaos 21:03, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
actually the popuation on the sign driving into esperance in all directions reads 14,450 and thats the SHIRE of esperance size which is ESPERANCE
not all people that live in esperance live in the urban area you know.
- Except that this article is about the urban area, not the shire. That'd be the Shire of Esperance article. Orderinchaos 05:46, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
2011 Census
editI've updated the urban population of Esperance to 9,919 according to the 2011 Census QuickStats on the ABS.--Forward Unto Dawn 05:48, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Mayor
editCan anyone confirm or deny that IanMickel or Richard Grist is mayor of Esperance? I found information online that Ian Mickel is the CEO/Mayor in late 2009, but I'm unsure as whether there has been an election or whether the page is being vandalised.
- Website says: "Shire President: Cr I S (Ian) Mickel (JP) Retiring 2013" Richard Grist isn't even a councillor, nor is there any mention of him online. (Which reminds me, I really need to figure out how to build alt text into IAP for shire presidents and lord mayors.) Orderinchaos 09:34, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Ian Mickel is no longer the Shire President. Malcolm Heasman is now the Shire President. (see here: http://www.esperance.wa.gov.au/2/155/1/elected_members.pm ) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.182.136.128 (talk) 08:54, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
