Local pronuciation

edit

Adding a local pronunciation rendered as "(Swabian: Esslenga am Neckor)" doesn't make sense - for a number of reasons:

  • the reference given is Alemanian wikipedia. "Alemannisch" German is a continuum of related dialects with widely varying pronunciations - and without any established and authoriative standard.
  • locals will not add the "am Neckar" to the name of the city, as this is a purely administrative suffix.
  • locals will not pronounce the name of the river as "Neckor" but rather like "Neggr" (the final vowel is dropped) and "am", after a word ending in "a", as "m".
  • finally, and most importantly, German phonetic approximations of the actual local pronunciation do not work in English wikipedia. Either, international phonetic transcription should be used - or an actual recording inserted. Albrecht Conz (talk) 05:53, 17 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
