This article is an excellent overview of its subject.
- Article is very well written. I have made a few copyedits.
- I would query: "James Smith worked as a mason on the Bruce's..." I think this is Scottish English, but use of "the" in this context will seem strange to non-Scots readers, leading them to backtrack and try and find who the other Bruce was.
- "These were largely conventional Palladian style houses that incorporated..." It is not clear what the "These" is here.
- The article appears adequately cited, with high-quality references.
- The article appears broad and uses summary style. It does raise one issue for me, though: it appears almost exclusively about the architecture of estate houses, and says almost nothing about their use or inhabitants. Can the nominator explain this focus?
- The article is neutral and stable.
- Images are appropriately licenced, well chosen, and appropriately captioned.
I expect to pass this, but would appreciate clarification about the reason for the relative lack of information about the houses' use and inhabitants. hamiltonstone (talk) 12:43, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking on this review. I think it is a fair point on the architectural focus. Since I first submitted this article I have found a few bits and pieces about life in the houses, so my suggestion is that I add a sub-section about social life at the end. The other minor points I can fix pretty easily, but this might take a bit longer.--SabreBD (talk) 13:28, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

- Just to update, I have made good progress on this, but the additions may be a bit larger than I expected. At the moment, my plan is to turn the existing text into a section on architecture and add sections on interiors, gardens and social life. These are larger changes than I normally carry out in a review, so I thought I would flag them up. However, I think they will enhance the article and substantial shift the emphasis from just architecture without losing anything. I still have a bit of research to do, but I am optimistic about completing the task this week.--SabreBD (talk) 07:34, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

- I have added the new sections (and moved a few things about accordingly). I have also fixed the other minor points raised above. - What is a commendator? Can it be wikilinked, eg to In commendam?

- A commendator is basically a lay patron of an ecclesiastical institution. As you suggested I linked to In commendam.
