editA lot of the later sections read as if from a very defensive biography (perhaps lifted from an unknown source?). Viollet-le-Duc is to be respected for his impressive restoration attempts, as well as his success in raising the preservation of French architectural heritage to the public interest, but it's important to point out his love of "enhancing" existing historical buildings with picturesque but hardly accurate additions or modifications, Carcassonne in particular. I've added a small section to this effect; could someone with greater knowledge please expand? References would also be nice.... 134.173.192.188 (talk) 10:47, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
can someone who knows about Viollet-le-Duc add Château de Coucy into this article so that Viollet-le-Duc ceases from being an orphan? Kingturtle 23:27 May 13, 2003 (UTC)

Merimee
editThe 'Restoration Work' paragraph contains the sentence Viollet-le-Duc, returning in 1835 from a study trip to Italy, was ordered by Prosper Merimée to restore the Romanesque abbey of Vézelay. This sounds wrong to me. Why was Viollet-le-duc under the orders of Merimee? Would commissioned be a better word? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rojomoke (talk • contribs) 15:28, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
