Sculpture image copyvio?
editReally? Would you mind linking to the guideline about it? What about the Kesey statue? What about Portlandia? Katr67 (talk) 19:29, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Without looking at the image pages for the other statues, if they say they are released by anyone other than the author of the sculpture, then they would be copyvios. If you change the author/info on the pic page for Skinner, it would probably qualify as fair use (provided a mention or something in the article about the statute). Here is the law, and here is the commons info. Wikipedia via Wikipedia:Freedom of panorama basically refers you to Commons. But in general, its a little understood/known copyright thing, which is why so many pictures of artwork are on Wikipedia under the wrong licenses. Of course, if it was commission by the Feds, then you still have gov work, along with sculpted pre-1923 (I think it might even be later as I believe protection such as this wasn't part of the 1909 Copyright Act). See also: {{Non-free 3D art}}. Hope that helps. Aboutmovies (talk) 08:01, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks, I'll look into it. I'm glad you're in law school. Better you than me, anyway... Katr67 (talk) 19:23, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
