Park and Ride?

edit

Where's the Park and Ride? It's not on the same block as the station. Have they set up a Park and Ride nearby? Katr67 (talk) 06:58, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I checked the article you referenced. The R-G had it wrong--it's not a park and ride location, it's just a location where you can catch the shuttle. Downtown you would have to find your own parking, separate from any LTD facilities. The most interesting thing about the current station is that it's on the same city block as the McDonald Theatre. What!? A local newspaper has errors? I'm shocked! Aboutmovies (talk) 09:30, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
That's what you get when you outsource the fact checking... Katr67 (talk) 15:45, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
To me it's more of a matter of when is a paper not wrong around here? There is always something that is disputable about the Eugene papers.Ryoga-2003 (talk) 05:14, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ideas for expansion

edit

Some of this is original research. I'm a local. Deal.

  • Former uses of the city block on which the station is--I recall a parking lot, and ARC Bingo--that used to be...what?
  • The process leading up to the siting decision.
  • Bus "station" was formerly shelters along the streets for a couple blocks in each direction. Like Portland does it now.
  • Waiting room was formerly in McDonald Theatre building and before that in the Schaefers Building (NRHP) and maybe a couple other places.
  • Artwork around the station, including glass art by John Rose, [1] tiles with LTD history by ??? (which had to be replaced because they were too slippery)
  • Status as a shuttle stop for sports events, the county fair, the Oregon Country Fair, etc.
  • Indoor facilities, bike parking, landscaping, cafe and convenience store, etc.
  • Crime
  • Mention other stations: Springfield, Amazon, River Road, Seneca (is that really as station?), Thurston
  • Our mom was rider of the month once... nah.

Yo Finngall, what else? Katr67 (talk) 15:59, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The shuttle bus part is easily sourced, that was by far the biggest number of hits in the R-G. Aboutmovies (talk) 19:24, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
How about the new statue of Rosa Parks that was unveiled this past MLK Day? (LCC Torch article with pic here) Not thinking of much else remarkable to say about it. --Finngall talk 16:28, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
