Number of Members

Consultative body, not EU institutions.

The Committee of the regions is not an EU institution accordingly to the EU treaties ( there are only five, namely The EU council, the Parliament, Commission and Court of auditors)

Is this true?

The article states: "Involving the elected level of government closest to the citizens was one way of closing the gap." The lowest level is the English parish council, the French commune etc... If the above statement is really true as to what the EU professes as the purpose of this committee, then it would be good to flesh out this for clarification. The name is "C. of the Regions" but this is a simplification. The French commune level is indeed involved in the composition of CoR, there are mayors like 1st Vice President Michel Delebarre. The same applies for all member states. Britain is a special case because parish councils are not regarded local governments only in certain aspects. --peyerk (talk) 07:00, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

European Alliance

One of the four political groups in the Committee of the Regions is UEN-EA. EA stands for European Alliance, but what does it stand for? We should have an article about European Alliance, but I don't know where to start from. --Checco (talk) 13:58, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

By what does 'it' stand for, do you mean UEN? If so, see the political groups page. As for where to start, well what's the source for this? We need to know what parties are in it. Not sure about an independent page for European Alliance, that would depend on its nature.
