editThe part on the ombudsman's duties appears to be a direct quote. It is apparently not attributed. If it is from the proposed Constitution, that would probably not be a valid source (since the constitution did not come into effect). It would probably better to rewrite it, but as it stands, attribution is required. --Boson 10:33, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Time for an update?
editI would like to suggest a few updates:
1. The statistics and links to our publications are pretty outdated. I suggest having a look at our up-to-date statistics from the last Annual Report (2011) which you can find here (European Ombudsman's website) and our compliance follow-up reports (2006-2011 which are available here)
The Ombudsman received 2 510 complaints in 2011, compared to 2 667 in 2010. He opened 396 investigations into alleged maladministration by the EU administration. This represents an increase of 18% compared to the previous year, when 335 inquiries were opened. In 2011, Spain, with 361 complaints, overtook Germany (308) with the greatest number of complaints, followed by Poland (233) and Belgium (190). Relative to population, however, the greatest proportion of complaints came from Luxembourg and Cyprus.
In 2011, the overall rate of compliance by the EU institutions with his suggestions was 82%. The best performers were the EU Agencies with a 100% compliance rate. The compliance rate of the European Commission was the same as the overall figure of 82%, while the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) scored 69%.

- I have incorporated your suggestions into the article. In some cases I've taken your exact wording and in others I've made some slight alterations. I've added the 2011 overview and the 2011 compliance report as sources for the article, and removed some outdated 2009 information (though I've left some in for comparison). I did also include the external links you suggested, though it may be that other editors don't like the fact that there are three external links all pointing to the same website.
