Itinerary Format
edit- I couldn't find a standard itinerary format for the E roads on English wiki. I think (hope) that means there wasn't one. There are some nice ones in various other wiki language versions, and taking these as my inspiration I have set one up here for a new entry on the E27, also applying shamelessly one or two tips picked up along the way from fellow contributors to wiki automobile entries. I hope I've not trodden on any toes in doing this. I took a look at wiki project highways discussion page, but I had the impression there that most of the highways activity in english language wiki currently involved stateside highways. They've adapted there one or two railroad templates there which works better for north America, where road maps tend to show roads as single lines (which to European eyes, familiar with European maps, makes them look like rather colorful and bendy railroads: though of course the widened road lines used on European road maps do constitute a greater distortion: but that way digression lies).
- I think the tabular style I've adapted from (most obviously) Norwegian and Italian wiki articles on E roads probably works better than railroad templates for E road purposes. More scope for adding another informative column - eg if ever someone wanted to add distances. (Though I would urge against adding distances for the E27 since chunks of it are still under construction, and every time someone opened a big tunnel or bridge you'd have to correct all the distance fields...)
- Anyhow, I'll not touch this any more for now, but see instead if anyone else can think of ways to improve it. Or if anyone thinks I've been treading on others' toes by even attempting it....Regards Charles01 (talk) 07:15, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
