Can we make a separate article for Euro-trash, the ethnic slur? I've heard it also refers to an art and film movement of the '70s but I know little about this. Help! ThePedanticPrick 17:30, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
- It usually applies to European backbackers especially of French and German extraction interested in techno and getting wasted.--Greasysteve13 10:49, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
The usage I've always encountered has been somewhat similar to what GreasySteve13 described. I've heard it mostly used to describe French or German guys who wear too much black and have some air of superiority or condescension toward others (not necessarily just Americans). If they're French, they spend too much time in coffee houses; either way they often listen to techno. Think Dieter. I have never heard it used to refer to backpackers or visitors in the US. 132.236.6.44 20:22, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- This is certainly close to the normal use around here (New York City). It refers to Europeans, typically under the age of 30, typically with expense accounts, and always broadcasting condescension to Americans. The definition as currently listed on the page, which relies on their being "uncultured," would not be a normal usage in New York. Uucp 00:28, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Actually, American tabloids often use "Eurotrash" to refer to scandal-plagued scions of former nobility or dethroned royal houses or minor royalty (like Monaco). AnonMoos 19:15, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
In a recent episode of the Simpsons, "Eurotrash" is used to refer to German backpackers lodging with the Simpsons while Bart is at a fat camp. They frequently compare Europe to the US, with the latter usually portrayed as inferior or backward. --Impaciente 02:57, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
you guys are wrong. eurotrash is specific: tight pants, bad hair, unstylish, 80s-looking people. or at least that's what it used to mean before the uneducated got their dirty little hands on it. --75.72.170.94 04:00, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
There is another entry on this
