Disambiguator

[edit]

The page's current disambiguator is (costume wearer), which I feel is a very bizarre disambiguator that doesn't describe the subject well. I moved the page to say (criminal) instead, and User:PARAKANYAA reverted that because "criminal" is vague and potentially a violation of MOS:CRIMINAL; fair enough. I guess that brings up the question of what would be a better phrase than "costume wearer" that isn't a MOS violation. The only one I can think of would be (Evil Elmo) since that's a nickname used in multiple sources. Does anyone else have any better ideas? Honestly, all the headlines call him Evil Elmo, so just that may itself be a better name. PARAKANYAA (talk) 19:22, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Adam Sandler (costume wearer)Evil Elmo – The name "Evil Elmo" is used in most sources and is thus the WP:COMMONNAME. Additionally, this title removes the strange parenthetical "(costume wearer)". ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 02:32, 15 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Support. Seems the common name. PARAKANYAA (talk) 03:31, 15 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 25 August 2026

Evil ElmoAdam Sandler (American pornographer) – "Evil Elmo" seems like an odd title for Sandler, particularly considering that some of his activities have nothing to do with his costumed harassment.

Would also be open to Danny Sandler as a potential alternative. GrinningIodize (you just lost the game) (talk) 21:15, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Another plausible title would be Adam Sandler (American harasser). GrinningIodize (you just lost the game) (talk) 21:17, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oppose, he is half notable for the web pornography but more notable for the costumes. Most sources call him this. It's not like he seems to mind. Danny Sandler would also be alright, don't care, but oppose the suggested move. PARAKANYAA (talk) 15:08, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
What about Adam Sandler (American harasser) or perhaps Adam Sandler (American costumed harasser) since that's what he's best known for? GrinningIodize (you just lost the game) (talk) 15:36, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't think "harasser" is really an NPOV description. PARAKANYAA (talk) 17:55, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
"Evil Elmo" isn't either. GrinningIodize (you just lost the game) (talk) 18:07, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's a nickname, as in an actual name that people use, not a term of description. PARAKANYAA (talk) 18:40, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think Evil Elmo should stay considering that's what made him famous in the first place DonutDurante (talk) 20:49, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
