Note to self:

French magistrates are represented by two competing trade unions: the Syndicat de la Magistrature and the Union syndicale des magistrats (established in 1968).

Situation in Germany: Ermittlungsrichter

edit

As I see it, it is insufficient and misleading to state only, that Germany suppressed the office of "Untersuchungsrichter" without telling the reader that it (the office) has been replaced rather by that of "Ermittlungsrichter". His tasks are rather similar to those of his predecessor, and even though at first sight tne main difference seems to be that indeed the investigation is now in the hands of the prosecution, at second sight it becomes evident, that the "Ermittlungsrichter" may take the initiative... That is what I gleaned from the German wiki articles, but, as I am not qualified and knowledgeable in matters of law, I refrain from making changes in the Englisch article myself... --Terminally uncool (talk) 08:17, 1 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Neutrality I feel that the article could use more images. Maybe a color coded map illustrating use? I'm a bit confused when you say something like "are among the countries," because that makes me feel like there are others that are just not talked about. What about south america? Canada? Asia? Mexico? Oceania? I'd compare this article in scope to Prison education, where you can see that coverage issues de-railed a FAC. So, if there are other countries that use the Examining magistrate, they at least need a mention. If there aren't, then let me know. Eddie891 Talk Work 12:56, 29 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Eddie891: South America is addressed in the Latin America section. The other countries you mentioned don't seem to have the examining magistrate as a feature of its judicial system. Thanks --Neutralitytalk 22:36, 15 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Neutrality would you check to make sure the map I added is accurate, I will change to reflect if it is not. Eddie891 Talk Work 12:57, 16 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
I actually think we may not want to have a map because the role of the investigating magistrate is different in each country, and because the green text (in Latin America) is mostly historical rather than present-day. Neutralitytalk 03:21, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
