This article is incoherent. The term appears to be little more than a slogan. The tension between its two components is not explored. There are no proper references. Only the US is referred to, leaving aside the rest of the world. The article is cross-referenced with the Wikipedia article Educational Equity, a similarly incoherent effort which appears to be an amalgam of four poor undergraduate essays. If educational professionals are encouraging students to create specialist education pages on Wikipedia, they need to follow through professionally by ensuring that the resultant articles are of a reasonable standard. As this article stands, it is worse than a non-existent article since it misinforms and seeks to frame an aspect of education with no visible justification or rationale. I have waited a week since posting the comments above and adding a deletion tag to this article. However, I am fairly new to editing and in that time I have reviewed Wiki guidelines and advice. I think it is best now to remove the tag and improve the article instead of deleting. The idea of 'excellence and equity' as a single notion can be approached here not as a clearly defined notion but as a term which is seen used with varying meanings. I will spend awhile improving the article on this simple basis. It may well be that others disagree with the basis of this continuation and subsequent discourse around this this will hopefully lead to a coherent article. I have made some significant changes to this article in order to work towards removing the tags. The page title does, in my opinion, stand up to the notability standards but this needs more explanation. It may be that the title should be reworked to include the words 'in education' but I am unsure if this means creating a new article and so I have left this for now. I will continue to work on this article over the next week or so. I have removed some references which may be re-inserted if they fit the final (for now) shape of the article. I have improved the article on the basis that the term's fairly wide usage within the field of education means it conforms to Wikipedia's notability guidelines. I have also presented the article in a style which conforms to the Wikipedia's encyclopaedia standard. I am therefore removing both tags associated with this article. I have left the article short on the basis of simplicity to enable other editors the develop it where appropriate. SteveCree2 (talk) 18:55, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
Article not needed, covered in "Educational equity"
editThis article adds nothing of significance to the article "Educational equity". Before calling for deletion, let me ask if any editors following this article want to argue for keeping this article. Pete unseth (talk) 02:51, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
- No, can be deleted. HudecEmil (talk) 16:46, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
