Not Good! The Kirams offensives upon North Borneo-Sabah is uncalled. Firstly, Sultan Pulalun did proclaimed his nephew as Maharaja (Prince) Adinda (Heir-apparent) and that was Maharaja Adinda Taup in 1859 because the said Sultan was childless. Sultan Pulalun;s predecessor was his father-Sultan Jamalul Kiram-I, the latter's proper name was Sharif Muwalil Wasit. When the Spanish government in Manila presented the Spanish Protocol Treaty for the Spanish to stay in the Sulus and/or so called "Pretensions of Sovereignty" upon the Sulus, the said Sultan signed it to stop the bloodshed caused by Spanish encroachments; the said Sultan went to thw hinterlands and seated his throne there. Prior to the spanish arriving, two British subjects came to Lease North Borneo when a certain Jamalul Agdam presented himself as the Sultan of Sulu and signed the lease Treaty as Sultan Jamalul Alam, a supposed son of Sultan Pulalun as stipulated in the said Treaty; at the time, the Brunei Sultan was Jamalul Alam-II. Sultan Pulalun did wrote a Letter-of-Revocation to the said Treaty. However, the British North Borneo Company never heeded and proceeded with their cause of leasing from the Usurper-Jamalul Alam. Badar'uddin, a 19 yr old opium addict succeeded Jamalul Agdam (Alam), when three contenders; Alimu'ddin-III, Amirul Kiram Awal-II and Harun Ar-Rashid came forth as Sulu Sultans. The Spanish govt. instead proclaimed Harun Ar-Rashid as the Sultan of Sulu for expediency and for Spanish intents and purposes. Alimu'ddin was force out and retired in Tawi-tawi wherein the Spanish touted him as "El Viejo De Tawi-tawi" or "The old man of Tawi-tawi". Later, Ar-Rashid was driven out by Amirul Kiram Awal-II and the latter self-proclaimed himself as the Sultan of Sulu as by his direct relatives. in 1884 with the title as Sultan Jamalul Kiram-II. In 1915, Sultan Kiram-II surrendered his temporal powers in exchange for a lifetime pension. Let it be noted that after the Treaty of Paris in 1898, the American military administration did met with Sultan Pulalun and Maharaja Adinda Taup in 1899.
