editI will need some help expanding this article. Watchdogb 00:51, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have done what I could so far, good job for a newbie. Keep this up. What we need is more articles and less conflict in Wikipedia. Thanks Taprobanus 14:02, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Title dicussion
editCan we discuss the tiles before making arbitrary moves ? Thanks Taprobanus 18:42, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Not to remind people that people's hard work has been changed. This needs AIV now
- Better to discuss than to make unilateral moves, beacuse at the end all comes to note as we found out one AFD after another, discussions about Tamilnet. Taprobanus 18:53, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- I don't care. What are the suspects ? all 500 Tamils were suspects ? Give me a freaking break. We can take this t ANI and see since the NPOV sources have named it "Explusion of Tamils from Colombo". Watchdogb 19:04, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
From Tapbrobanus's talk page
editThat I thought is a neutral title, Expulsion of Tamils from Colombo sounds like all the Tamils were expelled. BTW would you like to create an article on the Katthankudi Massacre by the LTTE. where so many Muslims were killed by the LTTE while they were praying. I can get you some good sources. ŇëŧΜǒńğëŗPeace Talks 18:42, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- You know I will, you simply have to find me the sources. I am trying to give up creative writing :( and give it over to the new generation in Wikipedia but I made a promise to you to write about 1915 riots and another Riots that I have not done yet. If you can join the Human Rights in Sri lanka project and make the right arrangements such as these things are needed to be done and even may be link some sources, it is good reminder for us to follow through and get done. Thanks Taprobanus 18:46, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- In the meantime I reverted your redirects. I am sorry to do this. I believe just calling Expulsion of Tamils is not correct. You are just trying to endanger the lives of all the other Tamils living in Colombo. You must be already knowing that Ministry of Defence is keeping an eye on wikipedia, so please don't provoke people. Try to be neutral to the core, however difficult it may be. ŇëŧΜǒńğëŗPeace Talks 18:53, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- I did not know ministry of defense is keeping an eye on this useless collection of information that is good only for historians (really) also your statement about Tamils living in Colombo will be affected by what silly bunch of us do in Wikipedia truly reflects how people are feeling besieged. I truly believe you, We can always change titles back and forth, no big deal. Why don’t you post it in the talk page as to your reasons and we will arrive at a proper title. Thanks
- I agree about the non residental part but thats as far as I am willing to go. If you are going to move it to another reducilas name then I will take you to ANI. I know I will win over the name you have given. Plus I would like credit of creating the page and contributing 80 % to the article. If that doesn't happen then I will yet again see how I can go about this. Watchdogb 19:01, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Watchdog please read WP:OWN, no such thing as we get credit, one we create it it is out of the bottle. Let us discuss this without any accusations. netmonger is a good guy who has genuine concerns. Thanks Taprobanus 19:04, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- How about Expulsion of non residential Tamils from Colombo ? for the time being ? Taprobanus 19:05, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

- I have read WP:OWN, I am not stupid. It doesn't say that no one should be recognized as a creator of the article. I know some of our friends want to get rid of me with some crap like "No good contributions to wikiepdia" and Mr. Netmonger here might be i nthe same group. Thus I suspect this as a hidden agenda. I will see where I can go with this Watchdogb 19:07, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Let's all cool it. I give you my word, Netmonger is a good guy. He and I have come to good compromises before. Even if you Ignore Netmonger and what may or may not be him, what do you think of the compromise title ? Thanks Taprobanus 19:09, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- When people are living amidst conflict the first thing they look for is information (they want to know how secure they are). And majority of the Colombo population use the internet. So no need to take the risk of provoking a responsible idiot to make the wrong move by getting the wrong picture from your article. I mean with the current idiotic politicians any stupid move is possible. If you read the Colombo article you'll understand that Tamils and Muslims put together makes more than half of Colombo's population. So Colombo is a truly multi ethnic city. And we live in harmony, only the politicians and the LTTE are divisive not the people. So calling Tamils were expelled from Colombo makes it a blatant lie. ŇëŧΜǒńğëŗPeace Talks 19:11, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

- I can comprimise to "Explusion of non residental tamils from Colombo". Thats as far as I am willing to comprimise. I can be a little piece of crap too and start to go and nit pick other articles but I wont. So thats as far as I will go. PS. I hope the genius who originally moved the page can also move the history... Other wise leave it B Watchdogb 19:14, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- OK We will wait for Netmonger to reply, I see your frustation too. Dont worry about it. If you go to Contributions from you, your contributions to the article is still available, but netmonger how come the history of the article got deleted when you moved the title ? I have never seen it happene before ? Thanks 19:17, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Can live with it. But I have the urge to change it to "Expulsion of Non Resident Tamils from Colombo (who were in lodges) :-). Anyway lets discuss this leisurely and Watchdogb has to have little more patience than he has currently. ŇëŧΜǒńğëŗPeace Talks 19:23, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Watchdogb I think you have some sort of grudge against me. I do have a masters in computer science, but I dont want to call my self a genius ;-) I leave it to your judgment. BTW have you lost anything because of this war? I have, so it has hurt me more than you if I assume you were not effected but I'll not draw such conclusions, I try to live by the principal "Ward off evil with good", I extend you the arm of friendship ŇëŧΜǒńğëŗPeace Talks 19:23, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Understand this is Watchdog's first article but I found his contribution still intact [1]. I wish him many more great articles and great compromises with other wikipedians like you. ThanksTaprobanus 19:27, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Totaly disputed Tag
edit- What are the fake citations ?
- Ethniccleansing is attributed is'nt it ?
- Also how would you like to see it mentioned ?
Thanks Taprobanus 21:19, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the "totallydisputed" tag for now, can add later,if it is needed after discussion.--Terrance 01:41, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Everything on the article is properly cited. No "fake citation". BBC, ACHR , Reuters and on and on and on. Nothing to be disputed. Watchdogb 03:30, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the "totallydisputed" tag for now, can add later,if it is needed after discussion.--Terrance 01:41, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- As long as tamil net contributors are involved this should remain as disputed. Not only that, this whole incident is used for pathetic propaganda, written in some pro tamil tone by a possible sock puppet. Inherently biased, and so on...obviously disputed as long as above two are involved with the article.Iwazaki 会話。討論 03:48, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- what is important here is citing the biased or disputed parts of the article and make a constructive discussion. If you have any doubts of a sock puppets involvement you I doubt this is not the place. Users private affiliations are not important inside the Wikipedia as far as they follow the Wikipedia guidelines. No Personal mudslingings is needed. We will work to resolve the issues.--Terrance 07:01, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- First-off everything is cited from a neutral site such as BBC, AFp and Reuters. No claim is not attributed to a source. So there is no point in disputing this article. Also please do not comment on the editor... Comment on the edit only.
- For the Cats please note that most of the cats have been put in place after being attributed to a NPOV source. No need to take the cat off. Watchdogb 14:34, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, the article looks very neat, neutral and to the point. Good job Terrance and WatchdogTaprobanus 16:10, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- For the Cats please note that most of the cats have been put in place after being attributed to a NPOV source. No need to take the cat off. Watchdogb 14:34, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Iwazaki's concern is correct on the HR cat. However, the states dept and others have said that denying the freedom on movement is a violation of Human rights. Watchdogb 17:15, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Cat is added because it is sourced to it. We here at wikipedia try to say what others are saying. If FFM and ACHR (both are notable RS) say its ethnic clensing then we document it. Watchdogb 22:58, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- The eye witness part is important to show that the SLP took the people to Vavuniya and did not "send then home". Thats why it has to stay. The other part is also important. That shows the HR violation since they were just taken out of the hotel and put on bus without even being told they were being "sent home" Watchdogb 13:36, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Eyewitness Accounts
editWhy should these not be included in the entry? please discuss Thusiyan 13:33, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Like I've said before, this is not a news website. Sections like this are not normally included on Wikipeda. For example look at a similar article like Virginia Tech Massacre which was part of intense community involvement. You don't have news-type sections like "eyewitness accounts" in that or similar articles. It is simply not encyclopedic. --snowolfD4 ( talk / @ ) 02:58, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- See the thing here is that this shows the way they were evicted violates HR. Shows that these people were just thrown out like some street dog running into someone's house. Watchdogb 18:13, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Straw poll regarding Cat:Ethnic cleansing
editYes

- Thusiyan 08:31, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Watchdogb 03:08, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
No
edit- In my experience, categorization requires more than just a reliable source; we need to have agreement and are unlikely to reach one since ethnic cleansing is a term that is used in many different ways. For that matter, I don't think it is good as a category, either, and I will bring that up on Category talk:Ethnic cleansing. — Sebastian 02:52, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
