Earthquake

edit

Are earthquakes a weather event ? Should the article be renamed "natural disasters" or extreme natural phenomenon in melbourne ? --Biatch (talk) 01:50, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Natural disasters" wouldn't be appropriate since neither of the earthquakes were natural disasters. They were little more than large tremors that got a few Victorians over-excited. ;) --AussieLegend (talk) 02:48, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
In any case, does 4.6 on the Richter scale really qualify as an "extreme" weather event? Loganberry (Talk) 18:49, 28 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
As I indicated, these were little more than large tremors. I don't see how they can be regarded as extreme. --AussieLegend (talk) 19:27, 28 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

that candle picture looks distrubing, pls remove. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.110.103.27 (talk) 22:47, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

In what way do you consider the picture disturbing? Cuddy Wifter (talk) 00:15, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Why are hailstorms and other common weather events logged on this history over the past decade? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.129.20.219 (talk) 21:52, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Floods

edit

G'day, I'm new to this. The 1972 flood event is shown, but there was a much larger and (most) significant flood event in 1974 not shown. Refer to DSE document <"Port Phillip Bay Integrated Model Scenario for Large Yarra Floods - CSIRO Hobart - 11 Oct 2000"> <refer especially page 5. http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0011/97139/Port_Phillip_Bay_Integrated_Model_Scenarios_for_Large_Yarra_Floods.pdf>. I'm not sure how to edit, so I won't attempt. Ccd55 (talk) 01:41, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Notability of events

edit

I'm unsure how this would be done exactly but I think that some kind of notability requirements should apply to new events added onto this list. I would question some of the recent ones in particular that seem relatively minor and not qualify as "extreme weather". Any thoughts or ideas? Takerlamar (talk) 03:31, 20 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
