Article cleanup

edit

Can someone (a native speaker) check and edit this article for spelling, improper sentence structures etc.? No need to actually write anything, just correct all the mistakes. Thank you! Lars 08:46, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

The article also needs a NPOV editing. Some statements are not NPOV or just unverifiable, like these:

Spartak became involved in financial troubles, which resulted in corruption and the inevitable buyout of the club by a wealthy businessman,Andrei Chervichenko, who started using the club as a money laundering scheme.
This is a serious accusation. It needs to be removed or supported by citations.
Nevertheless, since the overall competitiveness of the Russian league has improved a lot in recent years
In what terms?
Russian football is growing rapidly
Meaning what?
he became one of the best centre-backs the league has ever seen
Who said that?
He has already made a number of impressive appearances with Spartak.
Who was impressed?

Some pics

edit

We need some pics of Spartak. Matchday ones. And it is a must someone gets a photo (the one with Spartak fans - abslutely amazing) from the match against Lokomotiv. Lars 16:10, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

KITS CORRECT?

edit

Are you sure there's a white stripe on the kit? As far as I know, the home kit is all-red, and the away - all-white. Both, of course, have the "Lukoil" shit on them but that shouldn't matter for the Wikipedia entry. Lars 08:23, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Here is uniform for season 2006. Photos of players in their profiles are made one year ago. BTW, please don't offend Spartak's sponsor. Thank you. Darth MaxSem 16:05, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ok, no problem. As for offending Spartak's sponsors, why would I ever want to do that? :) I'm as big a fan as you and I'm quite happy with Spartak's current financial state which is amazing thanks to Lukoil (and Vidic...). Lars 16:27, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cheers! :) Darth MaxSem 16:29, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reserve squad

edit

I've moved a couple of players to 1st team list according to [1]. I would, however, prefer to see all players listed together, as there is no clear distinstion between first and reserve teams (take Bazhenov, for example). Conscious 05:30, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

The list will be too long with too many redlinks. I'm not saying my system is the best but I would still like to see them separated. Actually, having just looked at it, the way you've done it is probably the best so let's keep it that way. Lars 07:07, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but I reverted your last edit. The squad is just a list of registered players, so there's no need for this phrase. Also, please keep in mind that we have summer seasons here (hence, 2006, not 2005/2006). Conscious 07:42, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
But the you've made the list accroding to the RFPL website where the list of Spartak players is the list of players REGISTERED to play in the RPL. That's why we've had to hurry with Stranzl, because there was a chance he wouldn't make it till the registration deadline. Therefore it is natural to assume the the list is in the fact a list of all the REGISTERED players. How do you know Spartak doesn't have more?Lars 09:52, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think we shouldn't care about unregistered players because they can't play for Spartak anyway. If there are any and there's a reason to include them in the article, they can be listed in a separate section. Conscious 11:02, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
That's fair enough ;) Cheers! Lars 12:18, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Starkov or Starkovs?

edit

I know in his passport it's most likely Starkovs, but let's change it to Starkov anyway. After all, that's what he's called everywhere and he's a Russian, so Starkov is the better version. What do you think? Lars 12:21, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

In Russian, it's Старков anyway, but Latvian nationalists distort all names in their manner, so in his passport & official sources in latin alphabet [2] he's Starkovs. I think his name should be left with s at the end. MaxSem 09:37, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Spartak Moscow: redirect or disambig?

edit

Following the creation of HC Spartak Moscow, I've moved this page to FC Spartak Moscow. The question is whether to leave Spartak Moscow as a redirect to FC Spartak Moscow or turn it into a disambiguation page. I lean to the first option, because the football club is far more famous internationally. On the other hand, HC is also a very notable top-division club. Please voice your opinion on whether we can view FC Spartak Moscow as a primary topic. Conscious 18:32, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Definitely the first one. Redirect to FC Spartak Moscow, but add a dablink on top saying "If you want to see the article about the Russian ice hockey club, see HK Spartak Moscow". Lars 02:15, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Famous transfers" section

edit

...seems crufty and unencyclopedic to me. I propose removing it, unless it's substantially rewritten. MaxSem 10:28, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Quincy: Ghana/Netherlands

edit

Please, guys, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is still a Dutch player at the moment. He has requested a switch to Ghana, FIFA are considering his switch and are likely to approve it, and there's no doubt that Quincy will represent Ghana internationally. But until FIFA have approved his switch, his current football licence/nationality applies, which is the Netherlands. AecisBrievenbus 18:53, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nicknames

edit

MaxSem deleted my changes of nicknames of Spartak Moscow, but why?! You can find all of them in the russian wiki at the site of this team, so I think them worth mentioning, even if some of them are rather insulting like Pigs or Spam. But what about Народная команда (Narodnaya komanda = Folk's team)? Isn't it a popular and praiseful name?! The main principle of Wikipedia is a neutral point of view. I am a FC Zenit fan, but I don't insist on deleting insulting names like Бомжи (vagrants), Мешки (sacks). So, I think, that all the nicknames (Myaso (The Meat), Red-Whites, Narodnaya komanda (Folk's team), Swinyi (The Pigs), Spam) should be here --Moroser 12:44, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Infobox should contain an official nickname (whatever it is). Other nicknames could be mentioned in the body of the article.  Grue  15:38, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok. That's the best compromise! Thank you!--Moroser 17:01, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Person killed

edit

I will delete the sentance about one person dying and two injured because the link to it does not exist, thus there is no evidence of this incident happening. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.57.204.143 (talk) 03:24, 2 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Racism

edit

I deleted the section because it's very harsh and unfair that only Spartak's article contained one. All Russian clubs are equally guilty of this problem, Spartak included. So either you add a "Racism" section to the Russian Premier League article or to each and every club's article, because all clubs had these kind of incidents with fans being racist, not only Spartak. The article makes it seem like Spartak (and its fans) is the only racist club, which isn't true. Thus the section was very misleading. I hope you understand what I mean. Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.77.6.243 (talk) 18:12, 3 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
