F.T.W Tattoo

I apologise for the use of profanity in Wikipedia. I hope you can see this is unavoidable. This use of FTW far predates any internet slang, and is still in common use. It is a source of confusion as, outside of the internet, many people will interprete 'ftw' as 'f-ck the world', while gamers will think you are saying "For The Win."

Sure it does not mean "For The Win"? That's the translation I most commonly hear.

"FTW", a backward acronym for "WTF"

Added: "FTW", a backward acronym for "WTF" used when there exists an even greater degree of confusion than called for by "WTF".

This has grown in common usage to the point where I felt it should be added. Though there was some initial debate as to whether "backward" should be prefixed by an adjective (such as "common" or "rare"), ultimately it was decided that the adjective should be avoided entirely.

Unofficial? What constitutes it as unofficial? What makes it any less valid than the others listed? Simply the fact that you haven't heard it before? You still haven't explained why it is any less valid than the other definitions present. It is commonly used as demonstrated by other random individuals here. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it uncommon. I could understand this resistance if we were debating between definitions, but we are simply discussing the addition of a commonly used phrase. In the UK FTW often stands for Free The Weed and is used to show support for the legalisation of cannabis. But I am not sure if this is recognised all over the UK or just in my local Reagan

Problems with F-ck the World and For the Win

There is no wikipedia article about Fuck the world and For the win (which redirects to List of Internet Slang#F, and that link is there). Therefore, these entries (which happen to be explanations/defintions) don't belong on this disambiguation page, but rather on wikt:FTW (wiktionary - top right corner). Military aviation

• Training Fighter Wing
• Tactical Fighter Wing
• Fighter Wing, Training
• Fighter Wing, Tactical

   At least three of the above phrases seem show up (no, not as articles that have been deleted since i wrote this!), in WP, in the names of military units that use "FTW" as part of an initialism (IIRC some times for German units, in which case note that the German word for "wing" -- at least the wing of a bird -- begins with F, not W.
   IMO deserves research (by someone who gives more of a F than i do).
