Redirect to municipal article

edit

As created, all this does is state that a place exists, without any context or information. The article has been redirected to the parent municipality article for Millstone Township, New Jersey. Feel free to recreate the article once there is some meaningful content and after discussion here on the talk page. Alansohn (talk) 06:38, 23 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

A read of WP:GEOLAND states "populated, legally-recognized places are typically considered notable, even if their population is very low. Even abandoned places can remain notable, because notability encompasses their entire history." This article is about a populated place that is legally recognized by GNIS. You may want to read further in WP:GEOLAND. Fair Play is NOT a "populated, legally-recognized place". It isn't incorporated as a borough, city, town, township or village by the state of New Jersey, the United States Census Bureau doesn't legally recognize it as a census-designated place or the United States Postal Service as a post office; nor is it apparent that the place has a population. GNIS merely tracks existence of a place name and assigns geographic coordinates. Fair Play clearly falls under "Populated places without legal recognition", as it is an example of an "unofficial neighborhood", which "could be considered notable on a case-by-case basis, given non-trivial coverage in multiple, independent reliable source". In such cases, "information on the informal place should be included in the more general article on the legally-recognized populated place or administrative subdivision that contains it", which has been done in the article for Millstone Township, New Jersey. The article redirect will be reinstated and this article needs to be fleshed out with reliable and verifiable sources before its is recreated, and then based on consensus here at this talk page that the GNG is satisfied. Airplay or Fairplay??

edit

This page: [1] states there's an "Airplay" but no "Fairplay", yet the GNIS form source provided says "Fair Play". So which one is it? I just came across this. The first page is a NJ state site, so I wonder if there's a typo. Tinton5 (talk) 19:27, 31 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your first link has Fair Play... --NE2 20:59, 31 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
I avoid using the New Jersey Local Name Search. There's no criteria for inclusion and the list contains islands and waterways. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:55, 31 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sorry this was my mistake. Tinton5 (talk) 22:44, 31 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
