Talk:Falkenskiold (noble family)

Most proably extinct

The article talks about the Falkenskiold family as stil existing and even claims that "The Falkenskiold family today are large landowners in Denmark".

However, according to all reliable sources I have been able to find the family is extinct since the early 20th century, although I have had some trouble finding a good source for exactly which year this happened. However, here are some sources that at least make it clear that it is highly unlikely that the Falkenskiods should still be around today:

• According to the 1909 edition of Danmarks adels aarbog (Yearbok of the Danish nobility), pages 156-157, there were at the time only four living male members of the family: two brothers born in 1844 and 1845 and their two uncles, born in 1821 and 1823. Of these only one of the uncles had any children at all, and his only son had died 1901. Thus the only four persons who could have produced male heirs to make the family go on were between 88 ond 64 years old.
• According to the entry on the family in the Danish encyclopedia Salmonsens konversationsleksikon, which was issued in volume VII in 1918, the two, explicitly unmarried, brothers born i the 1840s were the last living male members of the family.

These basic facts given, I feel little reason to doubt the information presented on this private genealogical website regarding the years of death of the two aformentioned brothers: 1918 and 1928 respectively.
