Split
editThis article should be split. The first 80% of the article, including the Fallshirmjager badge are about the WWII incarnation, while the last 20% mention the modern Fallshirmjager. According to the infobox the Fallshirmjager ceased to exist with the fall of Nazi Germany, but that simply isn't true. Parachutist divisions still exist in the Bundeswehr. This makes the article unnecessarily confusing, as noted below in the "Just WW2?" comment.
I suggest that the English language version take a page from the German version and split the article into "Fallschirmjäger (Wehrmacht)" and "Fallschirmjäger_(Bundeswehr)"

Crete
editOn Crete the 7. Fliegerdivision was supported by the 5. gebirgsjägerdivision, commanded by General Ringel, not the 22. Luftlandedivision — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.110.54.166 (talk) 09:36, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
SS Parachute Battalion 500
editAnyone have details on them? Thanks Fluffy999 14:13, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Its ok there is an article setup already SS-Fallschirmjäger-Bataillon 500 found via Operation Rösselsprung. It is in reference to Walter Schellenberg & Operation Osprey. Fluffy999 14:20, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

editShouldn't there atleast be a note on this weapon in this article? 217.210.224.224 14:17, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
I concur. Someone should add that. Knight45 17:03, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Photo of dead fallschirmjaegers
editI deleted the photo of the dead paratroopers because it doesn't enrich the article.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.176.203.8 (talk) 10:36, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Well its back and it looks like theyre gonna be here forever becuase whoever is adding them is adding them to every German WW2 article. - Blake — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.37.142.252 (talk) 22:35, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
I deleted the photo again. See the Waffen-SS discussion.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.176.213.65 (talk) 22:15, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Bleh999, I'm sorry to say or better write this, but you are a pain in the neck (sorry for this perso nal assault). Read the discussions on Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS and Fallschirmjäger. The majority agrees with me that your pictures are not informative.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.176.226.22 (talk) 22:49, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Just WW2?
editThis article only covers the WW2 Fallschirmjäger, but there are still Fallschirmjäger in the Bundeswehr (German Army). Shouldn’t that be mentioned? - Raphael Nore 07:32, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

I just realized that the photo labelled "A Fallschirmjäger mortar crew firing the 8 cm Granatwerfer 34" in fact shows a "Kz 8 cm GrW 42" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kz_8_cm_GrW_42). Didn't know where to post this. --Ephesos (talk) 10:35, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
why do you take Otto Skorzeny under german Fallschirmjäger
edithe will be from waffen-ss and has nothing to do with the Fallschirmjägertruppe Cpt (AR)rt --87.183.186.169 (talk) 08:22, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Otto Skorzeny was the leader of a secret Fallschirmjager Unit. The Unit unfetter the Duce. Hitler decorated all members of the special unit after the rescue with the Ritterkreuz.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.59.42.182 (talk) 18:48, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
The Friedenthal group - from which the SS elements were drawn - were not Fallschirmjäger. If a soldier rides on the back of a tank that does not make him a tankie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.67.190.82 (talk) 18:08, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
an skorzeny will not! do the unfetter of the Duce. this operation will be done by Fallschirmjäger-Lehrbataillon. he and his guys will go with the Fallschirmjäger, but he dont lead this operation. 2003:C7:BC8:4C01:359C:3DEB:E4D3:3F86 (talk) 10:22, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
Game/TV references?
editWhat's up with the Band of Brothers and Brothers in Arms blurb? It seems as if they were just inserted into the article just because some fan wanted them to be included. Not very encyclopedic.
They should be a part of a separate section, "Fallschirmjager" in fiction" or something, or at least isolated from the main text of that section. It just breaks the continuity of the information, and for what?

Incorrect introductory paragraph: Fallschirmjagers were not a part of the Wehrmacht
editAs of now the article states that "They played an important role during World War II, when, together with the Gebirgsjäger they were perceived as the elite infantry units of the German Wehrmacht"
This is incorrect. Fallschirmjagers were Luftwaffe formations and not a part of the Wehrmacht. Henners91 (talk) 14:15, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
sorry there you have a wrong information - Wehrmacht will be all parts of the armed regular forces - Heer, Luftwaffe, Marine - Fallschirmjäger are parts of the Luftwaffe. 2003:C7:BC8:4C01:359C:3DEB:E4D3:3F86 (talk) 10:20, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
Current German Airborne Forces
editThe section covering the current situation of the German Army Airborne Forces is meanwhile totally outdated. The DSO has become the Division Rapid Forces (DSK). The two Airborne Brigades has been downsized to Regiments (Airborne Infantery Bn 26 and 31). The Dutch 11. LMB (Airmobile Brigade) was transferred to DSK for training and peacetime duty. And the Airmobile and Army Aviation Division, the DLO, has merged with the DSO to form DSK. So the remaining German Army Aviation Assets became part of the Division as well. And the mentioned 1. "Air Assault" Jäger Regiment is currently in the process of being disbanded. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.106.140.10 (talk) 09:48, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
Dabify?
editFederal Republic and East Germany had no institutional continuity with Nazi Germany. I think dabify is the right solution to this article because they are different military formations that have the same name. buidhe 17:35, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
