Population

edit

Famagusta city is just "16" in the map of Famagusta District

Why article of Famagusta city show population of 40,920, if 50 times bigger Famagusta District has 46,900 inhabitants? There is a high probability that there is an error in Famagusta city or Famagusta District article. Subtropical-man (talk / en-2) 18:45, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Famagusta District population here and in official census includes only the government controlled area of the district, i.e. the smaller southern part (see [1]). That's also mentioned in the article (”This part of the district has a population of 46,900 inhabitants”). Famagusta city is not located in that part. De jure and de facto situations in the island cause constant confusion. It might be possible to calculate some population estimate for the whole de jure district based on [2] and [3]. --Tomisti (talk) 14:18, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Municipalities and communities

edit

According to Statistical Codes of Municipalities, Communities and Quarters of Cyprus per the Statistical Service of Cyprus (2015), Famagusta District has 8 municipalities and 90 communities. These are second-level administrative subdivisions. Some of them are split to third-level administrative subdivisions (quarters), but those third-level administrative subdivisions must not inculed on the template. More over, some communities have the same communal council but they are counted as seperate communities. They have separated geographical codes as second-orded administrative territories. Ι have corrected the article.
