Standalone article

edit

@Megalibrarygirl: This might qualify for a standalone article at some point. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:48, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Another Believer: I think you're right, especially with all the events taking place tomorrow. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:27, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Megalibrarygirl: Yes, I think I heard on the news there are hundreds of demonstrations planned in all 50 states. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:31, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Another Believer: According to this page there's at least 700 planned! I'm going to be on the road, but I hope that I can swing by the one happening in Phoenix if I'm there at the right time. I could at least get some photos. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:40, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I thought I heard 700, but then convinced myself I had heard several hundred b/c 700 is so impressive! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:11, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Megalibrarygirl and Another Believer: If you post photos, please use this category on Commons. I should be uploading pix from today's San Francisco protest by tomorrow. Funcrunch (talk) 21:39, 30 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Funcrunch: thank you for the category link! I didn't know about it. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:22, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Megalibrarygirl and Another Believer: My SF pix from June 30 are up now; you might (or might not) find a better one in this set than my photo from the June 23 SF rally that's currently featured in the infobox. Funcrunch (talk) 00:03, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
It looks like there plenty of sources to justify a WP:SPINOFF.- MrX 🖋 17:42, 30 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Inline citations

edit

Please feel free to replace the USA Today source I'm currently adding repeatedly, with sourcing specific to those cities. I'm just trying to get a list of cities to start and I prefer not to add unsourced content. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:37, 1 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I apologize for my lack of clarity on Wikipedia many (and necessary) rules. Here is a Google Doc spreadsheet that the editors of this page may use if they like: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gM5xEGg6XZg2tVAT-_3go2iA5MghR8jlMR-gWyz_nJY/edit?usp=sharing

Why the List before the Table?

edit

In the section "Locations" is there any reason for the list, which is before the tables? I think this article would be better with only the tables. In the event the list is deleted, here are the references which can be moved elsewhere if needed (not including references which already appear elsewhere):

  • Atlanta, Georgia[1]
  • Boston[2]
  • Chicago[3]
  • Columbus, Ohio[4]
  • Des Moines[5]
  • Denver[6]
  • Dodge City, Kansas[7]
  • Knoxville[8]
  • Minneapolis[9]
  • SeaTac, Washington[10]
  • Washington, D.C., (Lafayette Square)[11]

It's a hangover from when me and Another Believer first created this page. Fixing now.--- Coffeeandcrumbs 03:38, 7 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks. I went ahead and removed it. The references (if needed) are easy to collect from above. I think this article needs more illustrative content in the main body but that is a separate issue. I'll see if I can add some text with sources within the next week.AMcDermot (talk) 08:28, 7 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Consistent table column widths

edit

Is someone familiar enough with tables to easily make the column sizes consistent across all sections? This would make the article look much cleaner and easier to read. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:43, 8 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

The column widths are starting to look better, but perhaps we should have a set/consistent image width so the thumbs aren't floating within the cells? ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:02, 9 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Another Believer: Just delete the Elgin photo. That should fix everything.--- Coffeeandcrumbs 15:41, 9 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
But the images will still be floating thumbs. I think having a standard image width would help. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:17, 9 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Images

edit

There are not images for most cities. Should we remove the image column in the table and just add thumbs to sections appropriately? ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:45, 15 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Another Believer: I am sad to say we may have to do just that. I have been busy elsewhere, so go ahead. Perhaps the best solution is to focus on growing the prose, which as a by-product will give us space for the placement of images.--- Coffeeandcrumbs 14:36, 16 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
And maybe there will be relevant text, with decent sources--not Facebook posts about a protest outside a coffee shop were seven people showed up. Drmies (talk) 02:16, 21 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Drmies, I agree, we should not be using Facebook for inline citations. ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:18, 21 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
