Question.
editOkay, I just saw the episode last night and I came here to see what my fellow Wikipedians had added to the page. I have a question/concern. It says:
“ | Max Weinstein appears in this episode who is a prominent Jewish character in Family Guy and last appeared in his debut When You Wish Upon a Weinstein | ” |
If he is considered "prominent", why has he not been on since his debut? --HELLØ ŦHERE 15:47, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
He has not been on because of a backlash to the apparent Anti-Semitism of the episode, so you are correct in saying that he is not a prominent character. Oddly enough, this current episode was much, much worse in it's obvious Anti-Semitism than the last one. Perhaps a list of the Jokes would shed some light on the offense that is sure to be taken by many. Jews are short and hairy, Jews are moneygrubbing, Jews are bad at sports, Jewish prayers are like the Indiana Jones lunatic who removes hearts...etc etc. They staged a mock crucifixion, parodied the hideous image of Amon Goeth killing jews from his balcony, and had Christ prove he was Jewish by displaying that he was cheap with tips. All this a single week after they claimed that Disney was an anti-semite. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.211.106.210 (talk) 17:23, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Uh, have we forgotten who we're talking about? With all due respect, BrianGriffin-FG (talk) 20:51, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Hm, I can't be sure, but I think I remember him from more than one previous episode, though not as a main character. Wasn't he in the last episode, the multiverse one, in the disney universe - being lynched? --217.157.160.83 (talk) 01:52, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Production section
editSince this article has been nominated for GA, it's production section must be heavily expanded. Currently there is only fluff information, and no actual production information about the making of the episode. Without it, it fails the GA requirement of being "broad in coverage". Ωphois 13:04, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree with this, there is only so much about production of individual episodes that is available during airing of a current session. Most production information is normally released after the series has ended or with a public release. I do agree that it could be longer, however if the information is not available I think the current section is well written. I consider this article worthy of a GA Review however will not do so due to the conflict of interest -- Nyxaus (talk) 16:09, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, but that cannot be used as an excuse. Per GA requirements : "Not every article can be a Good article. If the references to improve an article to Good article standards simply do not exist, then you should not overlook that part of the criteria." If the info is not available yet, then the article should not be nominated until the information becomes available. Ωphois 16:22, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
GA Review

Just a few suggestions...
Plot
- "Attempts to shoot Lois with a sniper rifle" - This contains a wikilink to Schindler's List, which strikes me as an easter egg. I think it should be removed altogether, especially since you already mention the reference in the Production section. Another alternative would be changing it to "attempts to shoot Lois with a sniper rifle, like in the film Schindler's List", but again, since you already mention it in Production, I wouldn't recommend that alternative...
- The lead and Production section mentions RAbbi Goldberg and Max Weinstein, but the plot section makes no mention of them. Can you add here what role they play in the episode?
Production and cultural references
- Can you more specifically explain the parody of The All-New Super Friends Hour?
- "Stewie's prayer over the candles is a real prayer that women recite before a non-Sabbath festival's start, however, his following prayer is a reference to the 1984 adventure film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom where Indian priest Mola Ram takes out the heart of a man during a ritual." Can you break this into two paragraphs? Also, can you reword the part that says "his following prayer"? It was unclear to me if this meant he did another prayer later, or if the real prayer turned into the fake prayer...
Reception
- "It's hard to pull off an episode like this and not incur the wrath of religious groups, but the writers here were careful enough to offend universally, and not say anything controversial enough to merit any serious censorship. It's definitely meant for people who are open-minded to this kind of humor, and can make sure they treat the subject matter purely as comedy and not any manner of social commentary or prejudice. Take away the slow start, and this episode managed to really deliver some memorable shocking comedy." This quote is way too long. Could you shorten it a bit and then paraphrase the rest?
I'll place this on hold for now. Thanks! — Hunter Kahn 04:06, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hey man, nice to hear from you again too. I've been a little less active on WP since we last collaborated. Now I mostly work on Seinfeld-related articles (working on a Season two featured/good topic). Fixed your comments, I did not put the info about Rabbi Goldberg and Max Weinstein in the plot section as I couldn't find much room for it, but I clearified there role in the production section, hope you find it enough. Later.--Music26/11 17:19, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
A good article is:
- Well-written: Prose is good, MOS is good.
- Factually accurate and verifiable: Sources are good, no original research.
- Broad in its coverage: Covers main aspects, no unneeded detail.
- Neutral: Yes.
- Stable: Yes.
- Illustrated, if possible, by images: Yes.
Good work, that's a pass! I'll try to review some of your other articles in the next few days. — Hunter Kahn 17:31, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, that would be great, I'll see if I can return the favor.--Music26/11 17:47, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Nudity
editShould it be stated that this is the second episode to show full frontal nudity? Although its only on the uncensored DVD, it should be noted. Note: The previous episode was Airport '07. Thanks. Sallyboy44 (talk) 12:37, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
