Slight question...

...what IS the CIA's charter? Do we have a copy here, or on Wikisource? 68.39.174.238 14:56, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The CIA is chartered in accordance with 50(15)I §403–4 and §403–4a of the US code.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.56.3.39 (talkcontribs) 03:13, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is there a PDF or zipped version available? I don't want to download 702 GIFs.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.162.20.50 (talkcontribs) 12:50, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Requested move

edit

I think the title should be changed to "Family jewels reports". This current title is too long and not really makes sense (should it be that all documents by CIA entitled (Central Intelligence Agency)? ). It's feasible for the readers when type the keywords Family jewels reports rather than go to the disambig page. AW 04:14, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree that the current name is too long, but I don't agree with the proposed name-change. The solution is simple: change (Central Intelligence Agency) to (CIA). There's no compelling need to spell out the full name for this article, since it isn't the main article on that subject.
One other point: the word "jewels" should be capitalized, since "Family Jewels", though an unofficial term, is nonetheless, a proper name (or proper noun). I thinks it's worth noting that the Chief Historian of the CIA is using the term "Family Jewels" (capitalized). (see this link)
In short, I propose that the name be changed to "Family Jewels (CIA)". Cgingold 13:29, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. As Family Jewels (CIA) redirect here, you should follow the procedure at WP:RM to achieve this move. Tazmaniacs 15:04, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Un-redacted information

edit

Does anyone know to which Miss King this is referring to? The CIA seems to have redacted her name in one instance, but misses it in the second.

From page 26 of the PDF: "Survalinces included coverage of the activities of Miss King..." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.44.13.238 (talk) 19:44, 1 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Probably Coretta Scott King, who was under surveillance by the FBI from '68-'72. 208.118.163.99 (talk) 18:40, 31 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reference to Robert Kennedy

edit

The White House memo cited does not mention Robert Kennedy authorizing an assassination on Castro. It merely states Richard Helms claims Robert Kennedy managed the "operations on the assassination of Castro." Furthermore, the attempts on Castro's life began before Robert Kennedy took office. The reference to Kennedy should be removed until documentation can be provided. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.72.242.38 (talk) 20:15, 24 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
