So... this list hasn't been majorly updated since 2016 and that honestly shocks me since it is a featured list. I added the matches that the national team played past July 2016 and I honestly don't know why there is so many minor issues with the article. For one, many of the matches do not list the goalscorers of opposing teams or the minutes that any of the goalscorers scored per the norm. Instead it just lists who scored for the Faroe Islands and how many goals they scored in parentheses. If anyone could add fix the match layouts so that they are a similar style to that of the 2018-19 Nations League matches or Euro 2020 qualifiers, that would be great. If I didn't add the remaining matches, then this list would've been WP:FLRC, which I honestly don't want. KingSkyLord (talk | contribs) 04:18, 13 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

What about the matches played since 2019?

edit

What was the reason for restricting the list to the years 1988–2019? When HawkAussie renamed it in September 2023 (Special:Diff/1175436053), they gave no explanation, and I don't see any discussion about it. At that point, no new results had been added to the list since January 2020, so it was quite out of date, but that is no explanation for the move. Compare the Major revisions section on this talk page: By January 2020, the article had last been updated in July 2016. Rather than renaming it to Faroe Islands national football team results (1988–2016), KingSkyLord updated it to include all matches up to that point (18 November 2019). Why was this not done again in 2023? Renerpho (talk) 01:13, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

(replying from your post at Talk:San Marino national football team results and to keep discussion centralised) Honestly, I don't know. A lot of the results articles are split fairly arbitrarily but usually into time periods of 20 years (see Category:Scotland national football team results and Category:Argentina national football team results for a couple of examples). A lot now have a split in 2019 which does make sense due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That was a natural break in the team's activity which occurred, a bit like how the Scotland articles are also split in 1914 and 1939 due to the wars. Other breaks are mainly because they have to be split somewhere as some teams have more than 1,000 matches in these lists so it makes them more readable and easier to understand. Where that split should be is not always as obvious though. There is an argument that the Faroe Islands articles could be merged because they don't have as many results and I wouldn't be opposed to such a merger. Feel free to be bold or start a merge discussion if you think that is the best solution for the Faroe Islands articles. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 14:09, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Stevie fae Scotland: Okay, that would be Faroe Islands national football team results (2020–present)... Considering that the pandemic isn't mentioned in the Faroe Islands national football team article, it doesn't look like it had a big effect in this case. Yeah. Tbf, I wasn't referring to how Covid impacted any national just that it meant a natural break in activity as they all went at least eight or nine months without playing. I'm not opposed to the articles being merged though. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 12:00, 13 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
