The contents of the Fast retransmit page were merged into TCP congestion-avoidance algorithm on 2016-03-13. For the contribution history and old versions of the merged article please see its history. |
The explanation needs to be fixed. It was incorrect about the acknowledgement values sent by the receiver (when sending duplicate ACKs, the chunk of data after the missing packet will NOT be acknowledged - that would acknowledge the missing data!). I've fixed that, but it's still somewhat misleading - sequence numbers and acknowledgements don't refer to packet numbers, but to sequence numbers (which always talk about bytes). Merger Proposal
editRemoved the merge proposal because the TCP article is large and unwieldy and plenty of interesting information can be included about fast retransmit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Venkatarun95 (talk • contribs) 07:50, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
- A different conclusion was reached elsewhere, see Talk:TCP_congestion_control#Proposed_merge. ~Kvng (talk) 21:55, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
