necessary sentence?

Is the following sentence really necessary to the article?: "As such, it is one of the higher-ranking holy days during the ecclesiastical year, but is not a holy day of obligation in most countries." It seems a bit un-necessary. I'm not sure why someone would assume that it is an HDO just because it is a solemnity...we should only mention the HDO business if a celebration is one. And the explanation of 'solemnity' can be found out easily through its wikilink. Carl.bunderson (talk) 03:57, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

I have reworded this sentence to make it more specific.

Similarly in the sentence "The solemnity of Saint Peter and Saint Paul is celebrated in the season of solemnity." I have been a Catholic priest for 35 years and have never heard the expression "season of solemnity" used in this way. As a matter of fact, June 29 always falls in what is called Ordinary Time, not a "season of solemnity" it all. This sentence, likewise, should be deleted. Redirects for Discussion

If you type into the box on the left, and put in St. Paul's Day, you get redirected here. However, I have always understood St. Paul's Day to be January 25, as mentioned in Patricia Morrell's "Festivals and Customs". Any one care to mention this at Wikipedia: Redirects for Discussion? It says on Conversion_of_Paul_the_Apostle that the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle is a feast celebrated during the liturgical year on January 25, so should we not discuss that typing in St. Paul's Day gets redirected here? ACEOREVIVED (talk) 11:25, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

After spending quite a long time at Wikipedia: Redirects for discussion, this matter now appears to have been solved. Typing in "St. Paul's Day" still takes us to this page, but at last this page has a tag which says "Not to be confused with Feast_of_the_Conversion_of_Saint_Paul, which does take us to the January 25 date. Many thanks to all the kind Wikipedians who contributed to the discussion, and especially User: Salix Alba, who I believe added the tag. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 16:55, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

1. Byzantine Rite covers both Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic traditions.
