I am confused about the first photo. It is labelled 14:38 UTC on Feb. 9th, but that time will not occur for an hour and a half! Helikophis (talk) 13:03, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

It's easy to be confused on time zones, at least I don't even know what time is displayed here. But I'm more disappointed on over-exposed photos that don't show anything of the subtle penumbral eclipse. Tom Ruen (talk) 17:43, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

The times are correct in the article (and the eclipse already occured), but you have to to convert from universal time to local time for a specific location on earth. SockPuppetForTomruen (talk) 04:06, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Definition of prenumbral

This article does not define prenumbral, nor do I quite see where a definition[1] would be properly inserted. Beyond that, why isn't this called a partial eclipse instead? --DThomsen8 (talk) 14:37, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

The lunar eclipse article describes it. I tried a redirect at penumbral lunar eclipse which jumps to the "type" section, although already near the top. A partial eclipse has the moon partially entering the umbral shadow. A penumbral eclipse has the moon entering the penumbral shadow. Technically you can call this a partial penumbral eclipse. Total penumbral lunar eclipses are possible too, but much more rare. SockPuppetForTomruen (talk) 20:08, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
