Issues

Does the band have a website or anywhere I can order CDs? I heard some of their music on YouTube and it's kickass!!24.215.17.185 (talk) 06:03, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

As it is now, this article does not have verifiable sources, and it's not clear if the group meets Wikipedia's notability requirement. These guys are friends of a friend, and I happen to be a fan who has all 3 cd releases, and copies of the Bitchface and Stamp media articles. They did in fact recieve threats via email, 2 from Wahabbis and 1 from an outraged Iraq vet. This and the Taqwacore article it links from are of note because they describe a previously unheard of North American Muslim punk movement that is growing at a very rapid rate, with documentaries made and even a feature film shown at Sundance 201071.236.230.189 (talk)

Key words in the above description are unheard of. That they're up-and-coming may mean they're notable in the future, but it does not mean they are notable today. That they are friends of someone's friend is irrelevant. Wikipedia is not a blog. The article, as written, is not to standard, though, and should be improved. (And Wikipedia is not a forum to discuss friends of friends' musical aspirations. Taqwacore was unheard of until about 2005, but has since become a cult phenomonon. See Taqwacore for the movement, The Taqwacores for the book by Michael Muhammad Knight, The Taqwacores (film) for the feature film screened at sundance, or Taqwacore (film) for the documentary by Omar Majid screened at Toronto. Who's friend this band might be is irrelevant, but this growing Muslim based sub-culture is definately not. My comment about a friend of a friend and having the albums and publications was only to debunk the untrue allegation that their bio info was fabricated. These guys are one of a handful of bands revolutionizing both Islamic expression and punk music, and unless they need to reach classic rock status and have 3 gold records to rank here, they should be included so the other pages making reference to them can have some info to link to. I see that, but they need to meet WP:verifiability. This article still has multiple issues:

1. Notability
2. No reliable sources
3. It is still a stub
4. Unencyclopedic (as it stands now)
5. etc… (those are the issues that stand out the most right now, but it's likely more).

This article, as it stands now, does not seem to be under consideration for deletion, so please improve it. You don't need to be defensive about keeping it, but just try to improve it the most you can. (I do err on the side of including things in Wikipedia, but look at the articles for some other bands, and see how much information a typical such article has.)

Because it is a poorly written (so far) article, please leave the {{Multiple issues}} template in it for now. I'll try to improve the style of the article, but the content is up to those who know more about it. mcornelius (talk) 06:28, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Also, Bitchface Magazine is given as a source, but if you google it, this page seems to be the only result. Do any of you know any more about that magazine? It doesn't seem like a reliable source. Bitchface is an indie art and music magazine/audio zine available only in hard copy. It features indie and punk music from around the world, spoken word, poetry, and reviews. With the whole DIY ethic of non-commercial punk culture, verification can be hard and the internet is often entirely avoided, but if you want a subscription it's free, just go to papasagg242@hotmail.com and shoot them your address.71.236.230.189 (talk) 06:52, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
