There's not many of these left about, not many at all, at least if the number I spy on british roads is anything to go by (it's quite an event; there's far more vw polos of ten years their senior than cinqs) ... those that are left almost universally emit a curious noise reminiscent of a harley-davidson motorcycle or a 2-stroke dirt bike... would it be fair to assume the main mode of failure is something going catastrophically wrong, and the poor unfortunate blatting examples that have passed me by were not long for the world? surely they couldn't have made that sound from new, no-one who ever took a test drive would have bought it.

A shame, because I quite like these little almost-smartcar sized glorified go-karts, and would have bought a used one as my first car if my parents hadn't laid down iron fists against it on grounds of safety (but oddly enough, not the almost certainly non-existant interior space).

By the way can anyone confirm what the gearing was like in the Sporting, particularly e.g. terminal speeds in 4th and 5th gear - I've long had a bone to pick with Gran Turismo that thinks they hit the ~7000rpm rev limiter at a little over 90mph... this surely can't be true, can it? My similarly powerful car is geared about that high in 3rd.82.46.180.56 (talk) 23:37, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The questioner is unlikely to see this five years later, but just for completeness, he was right to be skeptical of the Sporting's gearing in Gran Turismo 2, which is completely wrong and has ratios that are much too high. (Gran Turismo 2 was unfortunately rushed to market and had lots of flaws, among which were errors in the transmissions for many of the cars--in some cases, crippling errors.) The actual transmission was the same as that in its successor, the Seicento Sporting, which has the correct gearing in the game. (You can use the Full Racing Transmission to set proper ratios for the Cinquecento, though you have to adjust the gear and final drive ratios from the real values to get a result that will fit. It's enough to make the product of the ratios correct.) Assuming the same 7000 rpm rev limit, the correct limit speeds should be about 96 mph in 4th and 129 mph in 5th, though the stock car is not powerful enough to reach the latter speed. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 17:07, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Incidentally, Gran Turismo 2's 7000 rpm rev limit for the Cinquecento Sporting also seems to be higher than the real car, whose redline is at about 6000 rpm. So a real Cinquecento Sporting would be limited to 82 mph in 4th and 111 mph in 5th. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 17:29, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Elettra price

edit

140000 CHF seems a bit much, with a magnitude. I mean, one could buy a brand new high-end Lexus for that price. 14000 CHF would be still high, but in a more acceptable price range. Cf. Hay (talk) 22:05, 1 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

The article was extremely poorly organized and whole sections consisted of unsourced conjecture, original research. Aside from a largely unrelated section soley about "city cars in the UK" and not about the Ciqnuedcento, no information was removed from the article, except for conjectural original e 842U (talk) 05:14, 23 September 2019 (UTC):Reply

It's important to note that the Inbetweeners section was removed because it carried zero citations. This makes it WP:OR, and by default may be removed at any time. Any editor that wants to keep the section needs to provide bona fide citations that support all the assertions made in that section. Simply reverting the article is not acceptable and constitutes WP:Edit Warring. Let's work on this article together, to make it better. This article has languished in inattention, -- with the "needs citations" for a long time -- it can be made better. 842U (talk) 16:49, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
I agree with your organisation/condensing changes, Anyway as noted I do object 100% to the removing of the Inbetweeners section, The car was a major part of the show in that various things happened with it and various jokes were made about it so I feel it warrants inclusion although I have removed every little detail or joke that happens (because it belongs in the Inbetweeners article), –Davey2010Talk 17:15, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
I've reinstated your edits as these were fine, I've reinstated the Inbetweeners section and have sourced it, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 17:15, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
