Filho is not a surname, but a suffix (jr). Matthew hk (talk) 20:36, 9 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:Matthew hk: you left a note on my talkpage suggesting this is a suffix, not a surname. However, in Renan Filho for example, how is it not a surname? Renan appears to be the given name and Filho the surname, doesn't it?Zigzig20s (talk) 20:43, 9 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Portuguese often shorten the name by omitting everything in the middle. Also it is very common that Brazilian name just had given name + suffix, such as Juninho Pernambucano, his real name is Antônio Augusto Ribeiro Reis Júnior, Reis is the surname, jr is the suffix, Juninho is the nickname derived from Jr. Pernambucano is the suffix for POB. People used to call someone Bush Jr., does not means Jr is surname. The article Portuguese name used to explain what Neto and Filho , not sure why it was rewritten to the current state. Also see this article

"Another difficulty in Portuguese is with the forms that follow the surname and are equivalent to “Junior” (Filho) and “III” (Neto). They should be kept as part of the surname, not treated as the final, paternal name itself."

So what is billionaire business magnate Jorge Neval Moll Filho's surname? Moll?Zigzig20s (talk) 21:08, 9 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Here is the quote of the forbes website (my own emphasis in bold )

Moll started with a health diagnostics imaging laboratory in 1977.

OK thanks. I thought Filho might be a second surname. At least we've clarified this for our readers.Zigzig20s (talk) 21:45, 9 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
