Hello Atlantic306 and Bbb23 as you have likely seen, this article is kind of a mess, and every attempt to fix or restrain it has been reverted or interfered with. Special:Contributions/185.230.124.58 Prod'ed it, but it had already been prodded once. I agree that it is not Prodable, and would likely be kept at AfD (just barely, I myself put a notability flag on it in the past). But it is a mess. All content contributions are from WP:SPA accounts such as Abbot Kinney BLVD (who might be the artist themselves, or very close to the artist as the photo is listed as own work[1]), VRIR, who often revert legit edits, and remove notability and other flags without comment or improvement. Furthermore, the creator of the article, Anthropocene2015 appears to have an undeclared WP:COI as their edits pertain exclusively to the gallery Meessen De Clercq and the artists that it represents. I am proposing to WP:TNT the page, including the image, which has been previously removed by experienced editors as inappropriate and reinserted several times and put in a simple stub in its place. I'm going to give this a day or two, and if there is no active discussion, I will proceed. --Theredproject (talk) 21:46, 19 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Actually, it looks like there is a history here. This is from a complaint about Anthropocene2015 on the COI noticeboard [2]. --Theredproject (talk) 22:03, 19 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Theredproject: I can't help. The only reason I came to the article was because of the speedy tags placed by the IP. Otherwise, I know nothing about the article.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:12, 19 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Bbb23: thanks for the context. Mostly, I'm going through due diligence here.--Theredproject (talk) 23:26, 19 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
      • Hi, have tried to remove the image in the past as inappropriate. If you just count prose its more or less a stub now. Suggest you consider changing the lists of exhibitions to one list titled selective exhibitions and only include the ones with an existing reference, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 09:54, 20 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Done. Theredproject (talk) 21:10, 21 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Abbot Kinney BLVD Please stop Wikipedia:Edit warring. As I said above, you must discuss here. This is the last warningTheredproject (talk) 23:10, 22 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit war claim by The Red Project

edit

Hello Atlantic306 and Bbb23 and theredproject I regret to see you are questioning information published about Filip Gilissen on Wikipedia based on articles published online from quality journalism platforms such as Die Welt, The Telegraph and Frieze magazine and AQNB blob. You also deleted a profile pic originating from the website of the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp? I regret that i don't feel confident to use the syntax and complex communication platform of wikipedia needed to reply to end this "edit war" and hence the name and artist work is wrongfully represented here online.

I also regret to see you edited out Filip Gilissen participating in several exhibitions and being a co-curator from a project called cosmopolitanissimo; that has many online sources among which Staedelshule website or participating artist websites ( https://www.staedelschule.de/en/board/club-jimmy-hoo-cosmopolitanissimo-thursday-9pm) or even an interview with curator Caroline Dumalain on the artist homepage?

Can i please ask you to not delete the underneath mentioned sources and exhbitbitions to which they refer to?

Also we added the official profile picture from the website of the Museum of Modern art in Antwerp. https://www.muhka.be/collections/artists/g/artist/1718-filip-gilissen

This blog post confirmes Filip Gilissen is a co-curator of Cosmopolitanissimo http://kubaparis.com/cosmopolitanissimo-jimmy-hoo/) but also https://www.staedelschule.de/en/board/club-jimmy-hoo-cosmopolitanissimo-thursday-9pm and the curator ship of Panicz Bar ( http://www.cedricfargues.fr/ )

We admit there were mistakes in the old version of the Filip Gilissen page ; which you deleted almost entirely a few days due to our pour understanding of the technical and practical dimension of Wikipedia.

So we took this matter seriously and rewrote the info about Filip Gilissen ( under ( User:Abbot Kinney BLVD)) only upon actual online references to find them deleted by you anew. I have a very limited understanding about how wikipedia functions technically with regard to this edit war and talk page.

Since you are an artist and an engaged wikipedia contributor and but accidently are editing out new and accurate information from a wikipedia I take my chances to call on your common sense and human qualities to bear with us and do good and help us out here because we dont have the same credibility as you have as a mass editor and contributor of Wikipedia. Abbot Kinney BLVD (talk) 08:02, 24 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have added the sources above that are reliable sources (WP:RS) and mention the work; the The Frieze above doesn't mention the subject of the article. I found a different Frieze post which did. --Theredproject (talk) 02:38, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

Please take a moment to review the sources. I made the following changes on Filip Gilissen:

  • Restored active links mentioning work:

  • deleted bio content with missing reference (added by Anthropocene2015 , who appears to have an undeclared WP:COI as their edits pertain exclusively to the gallery Meessen De Clercq ): Royal Museum of Fine Arts, Antwerp (Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen) and Meessen De Clercq.

I Hope you review these changes positively. I am a Brussels Based freelance curator. Please can someone look in to self made portrait I added to this page. Please also see my other contributions, Thank you. --BACHWITHPIZZA (talk) 11:02, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi BACHWITHPIZZA Some comments: Easy Jazz Connoiseur is not a thing. The various other conflict of interest accounts have all tried to insert this. Please don't do this. It is why I assumed you were acting in bad faith, and reverted your edits. Cosmopolitanissimo was a two day event in a club. It isn't appropriate to put in the lede. --Theredproject (talk) 19:26, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hi Theredproject, thank you for the comments & corrections. It's a good thing we can discuss things here, and I agree it is perhaps less conventional, but perhpaps more of a conceptual reference? Easy Jazz Connoiseur was mentioned in the artist bio in these 2 institutional web pages ; https://www.wdw.nl/en/participants/filip_gilissen & https://www.muhka.be/collections/artists/g/artist/1718-filip-gilissen. The work of the artist in particular is made out of humor and functional paradox, in an attempt to defy and open up academic understanding of art. It's worth a thought! Can I ask, what is your opinion on uploading an artist portrait photo? Thank you. --BACHWITHPIZZA (talk) 15:42, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
@BACHWITHPIZZA: I understand that the artist describes himself as such, but Wikipedia is more interested in what other people describe the artist as. If you had an essay exploring his practice as an Easy Jazz Connoiseur than you might be able to argue for its inclusion. But even so, it would likely be further down in the paragraph/entry, not in the first sentence. Take a look at other unconventional artists, and how they are described in the first sentence: [Maurizio Cattelan], [Lady Gaga] etc. Regarding photos, you need to have taken the photo yourself or have a CC BY-SA licensed image, which you will have to declare via Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission; you might take a look at this short video which covers some of the key considerations.
