To-do list for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance: FA push
Priority 1 (top) |
Ritz
editIn reculation to the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance character list I have found a mistake. After you beat the game you can get Ritz as a secerat character in your clan, you can also get Shara and Cid.
- So fix it. Notice the Edit this page link below the article? That's it. Just click it and edit away. Fennec 03:31, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Cart size
editI could be wrong, but I seriously doubt that a 16 megabit GBA game was released; I have never heard of any GBA games that were less than 32 megabits. Can someone confirm this? Thank you. Y0u (Y0ur talk page) (Y0ur contributions) 01:08, July 18, 2005 (UTC)
- It's 16 megabytes, actually. So it's actually 128 megabits, if I'm remembering my conversions properly. – Seancdaug 02:18, July 18, 2005 (UTC)
- 128 megabits, that sounds right. I'll change it if it hasn't already been changed. Thank you! Y0u (Y0ur talk page) (Y0ur contributions) 15:24, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

Cleanup notice
editThere are a couple of problems I noticed while editing this article recently: lot of use of the second person ("you"), particularly in the gameplay section, which is a stylistic no-no, and a lot of things which really don't parse particularly well (I still can't figure out what "gestion," means, for instance, and that's in a section header...). So I slapped a cleanup notice on the page. I'll probably be around tomorrow or the next day to edit it myself if no one beats me to it, but if anyone thinks they can help, feel free to do so. – Seancdaug 02:54, July 18, 2005 (UTC)
- I've made a stab at improving it. -- A Link to the Past 23:42, July 24, 2005 (UTC)
Races Info
editViera: Tall tanned bunny girls. They specialize in Fencing and Archery, along with other agility-based jobs. And oddly, the only playable females in the game, besides Ritz. The Totema that protects the Viera is Exodus
Anyone care to source the emphasized line? I'm willing to concede that all the Viera recruits are female as per their entry in the Races of Final Fantasy article. However, the generic character portraits for the humans seem to me to be farily androgynous or at least open to interpretation. Anyone care to elaborate? -- DennyJay 15:08, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
It seems as if the Humans (except for Marche) undergo some kind of permanent gender transformation when they become the Illusionist class. It's never really explained why this happens, either.
- Not sure how to incorporate this in the article, but according to GameFAQs' Mechanics Guide for FFTA, there are three different random name lists for characters: one for monster names, one for male names, and one for female names. The monster list is obviously used to name random monsters, the females list is used to name Viera, and the males list is used to name Humans, Moogles, Nu Mou, and Bangaa. I'll provide a link later. - Here's the link. Do a search on "names" to find the correct section. Jpers36 05:43, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- GameFAQs blocks direct linking to their individual articles from outside sites. The article can be found here, under the name Mechanics Guide. It does, indeed, have lists labelled male and female; however, many of the male names sound quite unisex, and it could be that male and female are just labels given to those lists for the sake of names. Zhorken 02:39, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- Some Nou Mou look like females? Some Humans ARE female. I doubt any bangaa are female. One of the Moogle classes is pretty feminine, but still prolly male.Qwerasdfzxcvvcxz
- There is that mission where you fight Clan Rose, right? Assumedly there are female moogles. ShiraShira

Let's see if I can help... The humans are designed to be androgynous, so there are technically both male and female humans. I guess they went this route due to technical reasons -- it would use too much memory to design a whole male / female sprite set when they could take this shortcut instead. Obviously, Ritz is a human female. The only reason why she adopts viera classes is because of her exposure to the viera upon entering the world of Ivalice. As for the viera, they're definitely an all-female race. (the strategy guide mentions this) It may, however, be one of those races where a male is born every 100 or so years, like with the gerudo from Zelda, which would explain their ability to procreate... unless they're simply asexual, or something. As for the Bangaa, I'm not at all certain. I doubt that they're an all-male race -- maybe bangaa society just holds the belief that females are unfit for battle, and so they're never encountered. As for the Nu Mou, I'm guessing that they are either hermaphrodites or asexual creatures.
- This game is quite odd, now that I think about it... Grendel 11:36, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Unless its a translation error, there are some pieces of equipment that can only be worn by females (whether it said "females" or "viera" in the Japanese version, I don't know) and all of these items can ONLY be worn by Viera and Ritz. This leads me to think that, yes, all humans, bangaa, nu mou, and moogles that join your squad are male, despite how effeminate they may appear. Female variations of each race must exist, as they are referenced in several missions by humans, moogles, and bangaas with obvious female names, but it seems like only males are interested in joining the player's clan. Nall 23:15, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Not a translation error. Your analysis is correct. Basically only Viera and some humans count as female, and Gria in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. Strangely, in A2, Hurdy the female Moogle is treated by the game as male for the purposes of equipping stuff like ribbons. In that game, Penelo is also a human female who uses Viera jobs instead of Human jobs. --Mujokan (talk) 15:14, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Ritz can use the Viera classes because no matter what class she is she looks like a girl like the Vieras and because she is a special charactor like the ones you get from the Snake SHeild, Elda's Cup, a wrym stone or somethin like that and THe Hero Gaol mission item. [Warning! Elda's cup and the wyrmstone are used up in certain missions
The Book
editDoes anybody know anything more about the Grand Grimoire? I know Remedi is the embodiment of it, and that the Entity within the Book is what changed St. Ivalice into Ivalice, but on the box is said something about being on Noah's Arc or something like that.
- I dont think it said that. But I could be wrong.Qwerasdfzxcvvcxz
- That's pretty observant. The story goes that long before Noah built his Ark, there is this ancient land called Kiltia where swords and sorcery exist. The Gran Grimoire, which originated from this land, was swept away by the Great Flood, and many tried to find surviving copies, believing that its power could change the world. That's taken from the instruction booklet. Bluerfn 18:20, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Final Fantasy Tactics Connections
editWould it be proper to add a section on the article's page brining up connections between Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Advance? I have found two or three myself, and I know that there must be more, but it would take a lot of time and effort to find them all. Audric 03:06, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Hero Gaol + Lini
editThere is a big side story about them and Lini can be unlocked as a secert character(I have him{he Rocks!}). Should this be added?
- I can tell how to get him if anyone cares.Just bring the hero gaol quest item that you get for beating Oasis Frogs and you will Radomly get him a a person that wants to join your party, you must have room for him Qwerasdfzxcvvcxz
- Ignore that^ (although I doubt anyone even saw it, this page gets no traffic.Qwerasdfzxcvvcxz 01:59, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Doned?
editThe summary mentions a child named Doned. I can't remember anyone with that name in the game, could this be the work of a vandal, or is my memory cloudy?
- Doned is Marche's brother, the sick one who appeared at the beginning; he also tries to stop you from destroying the crystals because he likes the fantasy world of Ivalice more than the real Ivalice. Also he has a clan called Doned Faction that i think comes from Ambervale. -- VederJuda 19:53, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Doned is actually an important character. He normally has to sit in a wheelchair, but in Ivalice he can run around. Like Mewt, Cid, and Ritz, he is one of the characters that shows that Marche is really alone in trying to return the world back to normal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Twinwarrior (talk • contribs) 05:02, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Characters
editThe section seems way too big... I think it should be split into a separate article (a la List of Final Fantasy VIII characters or any of the other FF character pages. Also, there should probably be some sort of template for FFTA characters since Marche and Ritz have their own articles, but it's not connected to the other FFTA people. Eowynjedi 16:55, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- I personally don't feel it's that big. Then again, if there are more characters to add (I can't recall if there are), it may merit its own article. ~ Hibana 22:04, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's getting pretty big, and I think I've seen character articles that are shorter. I say split it.--Niroht 01:41, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
- It should be split, in my opinion, as it is too big. --Mageslayer99 17:55, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- Definetely shoudl be split, and all playable characters should be added Lewis the Ger 19:22, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- In my first attempt at "Be Bold," I split it. Now they just need to be cleaned up so that they are up to Wikipedia standards. Hope no one is too mad at me, and I understand if you decide to revert. PantherFoxie 19:31, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Final Fantasy XII Connection
editPerhaps I was too hasty on adding info about the connection of FFTA to FFXII. I'm removing the Trvia section of the article. And I guess we'll have to wait until FFXII comes out to confirm this connection. Bluerfn 07:06, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Looks like somebody added a tidbit of info regarding the connection. Bluerfn 20:24, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Setting
editI'm putting this here as I'm getting tired of this issue. As you may have noticed, there seems to be a minor edit war going about the setting of the game. The two positions are:
- The game takes place in an Arabian setting
- That the above position is original research and/or POV and should not be included.
Now, the setting to me seems to lean towards Arabian or similar themes as the buildings and clothing seem to have that general style, however I'm not sure if that is worth mentioning. I would, however, like a concensus to be reached soon, so let's try to discuss this instead of just reverting. --Niroht 19:49, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's not worth mentioning because of its redundancy. I could just come up to the Final Fantasy Tactics article and say, "Oh look, the setting is medieval england because of the moats and castles and drawbridges." It's setting does look Arabian, but that's too evident and any reader won't need to go to Wikipedia just to know that. They could just see the screenshots or play the actual game. If the writer still insists then it should be placed at a more appropriate paragraph. Remember, Wikipedia is not a place for POV or original research. Bluerfn 20:23, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, those were my thoughts. People are insisting on including it, though, so if it gets put back in again I'mm move it to a better paragraph. --Niroht 16:33, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
"Children have manifested Ivalice from FFXII"
editI noticeds that somebodys wrote that Final Fantasy Tactics Advance's Ivalice was finally "proved" to be manifested from Final Fantasy XII, like, that was the "Final Fantasy" they kept talking abouts throughout the game. But I still think this 'tis debatables, because it only really just by the 1up writer for the article claimed that and the creators did not say officially that FFTA was a spinoff of FFXII, like, that the Ivalice in FFTA was manifested because they played FFXII. To me, it would not make sense that FFTA happened after FFXII because of the name of their town "St. Ivalice", and Marche's conversation with Montblanc when he was surpised and said: "Ivalice? That's my town!"
I still think it's debateable...b-but please I'm SO SORRY if this is so hard to understand I don't know how to type todays my mind's all boggly and swirly I'm SO SORRY UWAAH! ~ SnuggleBunny 20:40, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
- Debating on things like this is pointless, IMHO. The developers like to leave to the fans to decide whether or not this or that is or isn't. Even they are hopeless; the producuser Kitase said "FFVII is a sequel of FFX - but that's just me dreaming". My point: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is one of my favorite FF game, and yes I believe FFTA does not happen after FFXII, because really, apart from FFX-2, all Final Fantasy games are not sequels to one another. FFTA is a stand-alone story, and that it only takes part of FFXII, but not whole. My main point: Yes, perhaps the FF game mentioned in FFTA is not FFXII, but really, what's the closest FF game that has its elements in FFTA? Maybe FFT, because it had Bervenia Palace, and Jobs, but FFXII had Judges, Totemas, Clans, and Vieras, not to forget Montblanc and Nono. The town name St Ivalice and Ivalice similarity is just to tickle the FF fans, IMHO.
- And, yes, I understand you well. BTW, "I'd pick Final Fantasy. That's my favorite." Bluerfn 06:19, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Square-Enix has actually confirmed that FFXII takes place 1000 years after FFTA. A lot can change in a thousand years.--JP585 18:46, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Tactics Ogre
editshould at least mention tactics ogre
- And what is tactics ogre, pray tell? --Niroht 18:47, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, even though I did not originally suggest putting tactics ogre in, I can probably include a reason- they both look very similar and have somewhat the same battle mechanics. Though, I am not entirely certian that its worth mentioning. 70.132.201.55 20:46, 14 October 2006 (UTC)—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.132.201.55 (talk • contribs) .

Exodus vs. Exdeath
editWhile this game uses the translation "Exodus" The recent remake of Final Fantasy V for the gameboy advance uses "Exdeath", While the newest versions of the game are usually the ones that are considered canonical, would the translation of exodus be considered incorrect in this case? Tensa Zangetsu 00:31, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- The translation is correct as it was the game developers decision to name the Totema summon Exodus instead of Exdeath. Exdeath has always been the transliterated name of the FFV villain. The japanese spelling for both names have differed somewhat, but let's stick with the English version. 私はBluerfnです 07:33, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Critisicms?
editI recall this game came under a lot of heat due to being too easy, the judges and the stroyline which many people thought of as "kiddy" shouldn't it have a section to reflect this? Burning phoneix 09:24, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- A "Reception" section should highlight this, included with citation from reviewers. We don't want it to be a POV. Bluerです。 なにか? 09:53, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Exactly, that's why Gamespot only gave it 8.2. I don't think FF Tactics Advanced have a generally good reception if Gamespot only gave it 8.2. ParallelPain 04:16, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Good Article push
editThis article is going to need extensive work to reach GA status.
- Lead section: a bit too long, and too loose with several mini-paragraphs. Needs to be consolidated into three paragraphs per the rest of our FA and GA leads.
- Gameplay section: Two to three times as long as it should be; bloated with excess. Needs to be sourced, as well.
- Plot and setting: Races need to be merged with setting, and characters need to be placed before the plot summary. Sources needed.
- Sequel and development: Sections need to be consolidated, and the development section needs major expansion.
- Reception section: needs a chart and the usual 3-4 paragraph treatment. Needs major expansion.
- Entire body of prose needs a lot of work, but that will come as the article is reformed.
- Images need fair use rationale.
Lots of work is needed, but it's not too bad. — Deckiller 22:10, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Jobs

Merge soundtrack
editIt's a one-two sentence mention, not a whole article. Judgesurreal777 03:45, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose Several other FFTA soundtracks exist apart from the OST. There's the arranged album White Melodies, the single White Flower, and four volumes of radio drama albums. A move to a "Music of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance" article would be much better than a merge in this main article in my opinion. Kariteh 16:26, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- That may be a good idea, I was not aware that there were any other music articles, perhaps a Tactics Advance music article would be better. I support that motion. Judgesurreal777 03:47, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Merger of Character article into this article

- Good idea, has no out of universe info, doesn't really have a leg to stand on. Judgesurreal777 20:57, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- I only want to give a comment. While even minor characters of visual novel articles (I believe it goes under the category of fiction) like Shuffle! get their own article, why do we have to merge a list of characters which is not a stub? In my opinion, the list of character deserves an article. But the final decision is you people's. Kristalyamaki 18:07, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- I doubt any of them are Good Articles though, since there is probably no out of universe information, which is why this article is up for merger. Judgesurreal777 01:31, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Kristalyamaki, don't forget that Wikipedia is written by voluntary and unpaid people. As such, one person or one group of persons can't change everything in the encyclopedia and make everything perfect. The Final Fantasy Wikiproject focuses on articles dealing with Final Fantasy. Most members of this wikiproject probably agree that minor characters of Shuffle! shouldn't have their own articles, but the fact that these Shuffle! articles exist has absolutely no relevance to Final Fantasy articles on Wikipedia. If you want to propose the merger of the Shuffle characters articles, feel free to do so, but even if you don't, that has nothing to do with the articles of the FFTA characters. Kariteh 11:31, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- I think that's enough time, no reasoned opposition, you should merge it. Judgesurreal777 06:57, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Ivallice Alliance
editThe article states: ""Final Fantasy Tactics Advance" was not given the Ivalice Alliance logo because of contradicting game elements, such as the fact that Ivalice was a dream world in "Final Fantasy Tactics Advance", while a real world in Final Fantasy Tactics A2". This is somewhat wrong as the FFTA was released 3 years before the Ivalice Alliance franchise started and thus could not have been part of it whenever the creators would have intended it to or not. Should this part be rewritten or removed entirely? --Painocus (talk) 00:16, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just modified one external link on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Please take a moment to review my edit. If you have any questions, or need the bot to ignore the links, or the page altogether, please visit this simple FaQ for additional information. I made the following changes:
- Added archive http://web.archive.org/web/20071130030108/http://www.metacritic.com:80/games/platforms/gba/finalfantasytacticsadvance to http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/gba/finalfantasytacticsadvance/
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}
).

"Defender (character class)" listed at Redirects for discussion
editAn editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Defender (character class). Please participate in the redirect discussion if you wish to do so. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 11:12, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
Arbitrary
editIs it really necessary for the use of "arbitrary" in the gameplay section description? That doesn't sound like it belongs in a neutral gameplay section. Club On a Sub 20 (talk) 14:48, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
