The result of the move request was: Not moved. These is a clear consensus not to treat this fictional character as the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The soap character does currently have more page views, but given the transient nature of minor soap opera characters, it is reasonable for editors to form a judgement on whether they have substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 02:48, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Finn O'Connor (Hollyoaks)Finn O'Connor – I don't watch the show myself, but he's quite clearly more notable than the canoeist. Unreal7 (talk) 01:11, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment - agree with already implemented move (Unreal7 moved page Finn O'Connor to Finn O'Connor (canoeist): Not the primary topic)... In books the primary is neither of them but Felim Finn O'Connor an Irish chieftain of the 1470s mentioned in a couple of en.wp articles but with no redirect. • Oppose - not primary topic. --Rushton2010 (talk) 22:36, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - No evidence to show this supporting television character in the UK's 4th/ 5th most watched soap opera is more notable than the Canoeist. And even if he is, "Finn O'Connor" should be a disambiguation page. IJA (talk) 23:01, 3 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. I'm always uncomfortable with making a fictional character primary over a real person unless the character is overwhelmingly well-known. This one certainly isn't. I'm British and I've never heard of him. What chance have non-Britons? -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:40, 5 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Support, Regardless of whether or not you have heard of him (for the record I haven't either) he is overwhelming the primary topic.

Finn O'Connor (Hollyoaks) has been viewed 17365 times in the last 90 days [1]

Finn O'Connor (canoeist) has been viewed 71 times in the last 90 days (from Jan 20th when page was moved). [2]

Finn O'Connor has been viewed 308 times in the last 90 days. (The canoeist article before the move) [3]

If 46:1 doesn't constitute WP:PRIMARYTOPIC then what on earth does? Hopefully the closing admin will take policy into account rather than anecdotal "Never heard of him" replies. Zarcadia (talk) 22:44, 5 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
