Temperament section!

The Temperament section sounds more like an advertisment and is too subjective to be an encyclopediac text. Templates away! Arctic-Editor 20:12, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

I removed this part from the temperament section: "Some Finnish Spitz love other dogs while others are shy, passive, or aggressive around them. Left alone the Finnish Spitz will figure out if another canine is acceptable." I think this statement is probably true of any canine and I'm not sure that it is applicable as a temperament trait. Vandalism?

I'm removing this from the Appearance section:

The dewclaws should be seen as a dogs ability to evolve into an upright species.

Not only is it factually incorrect (or at least unproven), but it's grammatically incorrect. Well, incorrect punctuation. 206.21.164.165 19:44, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Article style and content

The article reads like a chapter from a show dog book. Lots of "it should be this, and must be thats". Also, some items which are controversial, not to say illegal in many places (e.g. dew claw removal if not necessary on health grounds). Needs a much more 'scientific' approach. A scientific approach isn't always easy when dealing with the more abstract aspects of a breed, such as temperament. In regards to height and weight ranges, there's no more appropriate source than a breed standard — of course, high-quality dog encyclopedias and publications should be consulted as well, but those draw heavily from the exact same standards. This is part of the reason I disagree with domestic animal breed articles being classified under "natural sciences" alongside species, taxa, et al, although they have their own subsection now, which is far more appropriate. – anna 06:12, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

If you release the pictures under a free use licence, you can save them on Wikimedia Commons so that they can be used by all Wikimedia projects, including all Wikipedias. More good quality images of good quality animals are always welcome :) Here's the Commons upload link. Be sure to add the category Finnish Spitz to help other users finding them. "Category: Scenthound"?

I am from Finland and I must say that I have never heard of Finnish Spitz having been used as a "scenthound" - in fact, it is often called "barking bird dog" in Finnish, referring to its hunting style (which therefore is far from a scenthound). Is there any sources for "scenthound" kind of utilization? --Canarian (talk) 18:58, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
