Purchase of the Bank
An IP changed this section by eliminating sourced material and replacing it with unsourced material apparently based on the IPs's personal belief. I have reverted the edit and it should not be replaced again w/o proper sourcing. Tom (North Shoreman) (talk) 23:04, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- [response copied from my talk page]The First Bank of the US article should not suggest uncertainty about the name of Girard's bank that did not exist. Girard was a banker who, unusually for the time, did business under his own name. Here's a check drawn on the bank during his lifetime. People called the bank Girard's bank in conversation because that's what it was, but there was no uncertainty about the actual name. 73.71.251.64 (talk) 23:17, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- The problem is that there are apparently sources that do question the name of the bank. You have replaced this information with your belief; however you failed to provide a reliable secondary source that supports your info. The link you provided is a primary source that may be consistent with your claim but it provides no interpretation that backs up your conclusion on the documents. Unless you have info to question the reliability of the sources you deleted, the thing to do would be to add your opinion (if it can be supported by a reliable secondary source) as an alternative explanation.
