@Whats new?: I believe the current hatnote is too long. WP:HAT says "If at all possible, limit hatnotes to just one at the top of the page". In addition "first dates" is a plausible search term for anything listed at First date (disambiguation). So I still think the link to the disambiguation page is appropriate here. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:16, 21 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I understand where you're coming from, however I would disagree that "first dates" is a plausible term for the articles listed at the disambiguation page, with the exception of the primary title first date. Someone searching "First Dates" is far more likely in my view to be looking for a particular international adaptation of the television show, than the others which are all episode names or songs clearly without the "s" on the end of "first date." Perhaps another idea would be adding a 'foreign adaptations' section to this article, and having the hatnote link to that section in addition to the disambiguation page (eg. "For foreign adaptations of the British television show, see ...#Foreign Adaptations. For other uses, see ...(disambiguation)." -- Whats new?(talk)00:55, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
As there are four disambiguation links in the hatnote, it would be better to link to a disambiguation page. I actually agree with both of you - MSGJ that there should be one link in the hatnote, and Whats new? that people looking for the majority of items listed on the disambiguation page won't type "first dates" into the search box. They might be looking for first date, though. The other versions of the series are already listed on First date (disambiguation), so I think it would be better saying something like "This article is about the British TV series. For versions in other countries and other uses of the term "first date", see First date (disambiguation)." This would then be similar to the hatnote on The X Factor. anemoneprojectors16:40, 2 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
