Clarification of Cheshire and Fitchburg divisions
editThe sources indicate that the Fitchburg to Bellows Falls section was the Cheshire Branch. ('Official Guide of the Railways, August 1949, Boston and Maine Timetable, Table 28, for Boston-Fitchburg-South Ashburton-Bellows Falls service carries the title, 'CHESHIRE BRANCH.')
The route from Fitchburg to Greenfield and North Adams in the Berkshires ('BOSTON TO TROY, NY' on Table 6 of the above timetable), apparently in Wikipedia was the mainline of the Fitchburg Railroad (acquired by the B&M in 1919), having the predecessor in the Troy and Greenfield Railroad.Dogru144 (talk) 00:48, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
Correct references regarding where the trains went
editThe Green Mountain Flyer and Mount Royal were on the Cheshire Branch; the Mountain Man was on the Fitchburg Division. I do not understand why these specifications were removed. They do indicate the directions trains went from the station. The Table 6 and 28 distinctions help clarify this distinction; so it is helpful to retain these references in the article.Dogru144 (talk) 01:03, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
- The Cheshire Branch (infrastructure) itself ran from Bellows Falls to South Ashburnham; Fitchburg was merely the junction station for services (as many trains did not stop at South Ashburnham). That is clear from Karr. Why is it particularly relevant to this station which branch these services ran on? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 01:25, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
- The destinations have plenty of relevance. The entire importance of the station is for the destinations served. That is why people entered and left the station. I do not understand what purpose is served by purging an article of such information for which documentation is provided.Dogru144 (talk) 04:45, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Likewise, just as destinations are relevant, branches are also relevant, as the latter point to the path on which trains operated to reach destinations. Again, I'm at a loss as to what is gained by removing references to branches.Dogru144 (talk) 04:48, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
