Red for human blood?? NO

edit

I don't think this is right. In Indonesian: Merah melambangkan berani, putih melambangkan suci Red represent bravery, white represent holy/spiritual I'll change it. Yes, there is a song called Merah Putih. "Merah Darahku, Putih Tulangku" Red is my blood, white is my bone, but that is not it.--W Tanoto 23:23, 31 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Meaning of the Flag

edit

This section:

Traditionally, most Indonesian has been known to use red and white colors as their sacred colors, mixing the color of sugar (the red color comes from palm-sugar or gula aren) and rice (white in color). Inarguably, until today, both of these are the major components of daily Indonesian cuisine or cooking. Apparently, the Javanese's Majapahit Kingdom also used this concept and designed their flag as red and white (9 strips each).

Seems very wrong. The grammar is a bit off, there are no references, and I will argue that palm sugar isn't a major component of daily Indonesian cuisine.

FYI, this site has a picture of Indonesian Naval Jack, which is similar to the flag of Majapahit (it has 9 stripes)

Name

edit

The name of the flag is actually Sang Merah Putih, not Sang Saka Merah Putih. 05:20, 2 September 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.160.82.164 (talk)

Making of the original flag

edit

The original flag hoisted in 17 August 1945 was only sewed. The red part came from a soto (traditional chicken soup) vendor's cloth and the white part was a bed sheet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ajitirj (talkcontribs) 13:08, 25 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Soto vendor cloth and bedsheet? that is a pure cr@p it is a lie and false info, we in Indonesia never heard such things (Gunkarta (talk) 16:54, 25 September 2010 (UTC)).Reply

Alternative history - do we need this

edit

The source for the "alternative history" section is a comment made by somebody called Daniel writing on a blog. Even "Daniel" says is is "likely legendary", and begins his comment with, "I had another story about the origin of the Indonesian flag...". Is this even remotely credible? Any objections if I delete this section? Davidelit (Talk) 05:40, 25 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Prohibited Acts

edit

This section says: Letting the flag fall to the ground is also strictly prohibited, although it's not regulated by law. This sentence appears to contradict itself. If no statute exists which imposes penalties, it should be worded differently to be less confusing.Goldnpuppy (talk) 23:22, 9 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

I removed it. The claim is not stated in the regulation referred to, neither is the "considered an insult". I any case, the regulation has been superseded by the one passed in 2004. Davidelit (Talk) 03:56, 30 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
