What is the importance of five? Septentrionalis 17:17, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
I think I read somewhere that it represents the five districts of Turkmenistan, also something weird like the five senses and five states of matter. Odd. K. Lastochka 02:21, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
Citation needed
editAs I've stated, I sincerely doubt that the flag will change, since the interim president and likely future president (the future election seems to be just as rigged as elections had been under Nyýazow) Berdimuhammedow has stated over and over again how much he'll follow in Nyýazow's footsteps and what a great leader the deceased was. —Nightstallion (?) 02:19, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Flags of the Armed Forces
editI have seen a photograph from the Turkmen military parade of October 2011. One of the flying helicopters appeared to fly the Turkmen state flag under it, as well as the flags of the 3 branches of armed forces. From top to bottom the flags appear to be that of the State, Air Force, Land Force and Navy respectively. Could someone make these? The photograph is at [1]. Thanks in advance to any future contributors.
"The most detailed national flag in the world"
editI think this needs a source and a clearer explanation. --Theurgist (talk) 07:47, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Proposed flag
editI removed proposed flag section for following reasons. Relevance and notability. This "proposal" should get some third party support, more wide use etc. Anyone can propose anything but/ to become relevant it need to have some support. Wikipedia is not tool for advocacy or propaganda. Whole section made and hold on one source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.87.230.5 (talk) 16:11, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
older carpet designs?
editAfter independence in 1991, Turkmenistan adopted a flag very similar to the current design, on February 19, 1992. However, the designs on the left were different.
So, how were they different? Looking at images of the flags, I see no difference in those. Only thing is the olive branch in the bottom (what is stated in the article: "In 1997, an olive branch was added to symbolise the peace-loving nature of the Turkmen people.") At least the image caption says "Flag used from 1992 to 1997", as if that was the first one. 86.115.126.204 (talk) 09:38, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
