editThis page and Fleadh have mostly the same information, culled (it appears) from the Comhaltas website. The Fleadh article has some information on other fleadhs. It could do with overall being made more informative (& organised), which I why I added the list of categories. Ewjw 19:11, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- A "Fleadh" can be more than just a music event. Perhaps the content from Fleadh should be placed in Fleadh Cheoil but the Fleadh article should continue, explaining to visitors that a Fleadh is just a festival. There are many words for festival in the Irish language which have been used by groups to promote there activities. For example, Feis is often used by Irish dancers to denote their events but the Wikipedia entry gives it as an arts or cultural festival. Fleadh can mean the same thing. - I agree, "Fleadh Cheoil" and simply a "Fleadh" should be one article and this article should be called "Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann".
- Fleadh is the general term for a festival, Feis or Fheis is usually used for a local music event - but I dont know the exact difference in the term, however this article describes the specific event which is the "Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann" or more commonly in English the "All-Ireland Fleadh". Maybe I will get Alison over to tell us the difference as she is more of a gaelgor than I.--Vintagekits 10:54, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Fleadh is also the name of a specific event, unrelated to the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, which is held in London. I've created a disambiguation page and started a stub for the London event. Lordslackarse (talk) 12:56, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann
editWhy isn't this article under its full (and official) name? There are plenty of fleadh cheoil around the country, but the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is unique. It's also the largest music festival in Ireland by a long shot so I'll put that in with a citation now. PS: Just checked again and there's no article yet on the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, although it, wrongly, redirects here. Anyway, I put the citation in at the relevant place. 78.16.173.206 (talk) 21:34, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
