Who should be listed as under "Planning by"?

In the official website, Lee Ok-gyu is listed as planning (기획) but in the opening credits of the series, Studio S is listed and in the ending credits are SBS and Studio S while Lee Ok-gyu is listed as Chief Producer (책임프로듀서). Present or End date on Infobox

@Paper9oll: most of Netflix, Disney+ and other related TV series articles of which are renewed for a new season has present on their Infobox rather than the {{end date}} template of the last season (see Stranger Things, Wednesday, One Piece, The Last Airbender, The Mandalorian, Percy Jackson and the Olympians and etc.). Close example is Squid Game (as it is a Korean series) ever since it was announced to have a second season in November 2021, the last_aired parameter is "present" and never the last date of the first season. Try to change the end date parameter of one of those article and let's see if your edit will either revert or not by other user/s. @98Tigerius As stated earlier, season 2 doesn't has an actual airing date, it may or may not be within the 12 months period that is stipulated in the infobox documentation. In addition, we don't have crystal ball on such. I previously have similar discussions on Talk:Extraordinary Attorney Woo#Season 2 in which there were no objections (nor revert or edit warring) since then i.e. 15 months later, you may read the full lengthy rationale there however instead of replying there for this series discussion, reply here instead. My concerns is within South Korean TV series as this is my editing domain, nobody bothered policing the western series isn't within my control. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 21:20, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

I've been summoned from Template talk:Infobox television. The infobox instructions state explicitly "Use "present" if the show is ongoing or renewed", therefore if the series has been officially renewed it should be present. The 12 month rule only applies to those series that have not been officially renewed or cancelled, or in other words have an "uncertain fate". That doesnt apply here if the series has been renwed. The full instructions regarding the 12 month rule reads "In some cases the fate of a program might be uncertain, for example if there are no announcements that a show has been renewed. If such a program has not aired a new episode in 12 months, "present" can be changed to the date the last episode aired", which firther illustrates that it doesnt apply here given the additional portion about renewal announcements. I respectfully disagree with the interpretation provided. Firstly, it's worth noting that while the series has been officially announced (this event happened) to be renew (note the lack of "ed") however this event has not yet occurred hence how does it falls under "ongoing or renewed", this is clearly illogical. Secondly, I didn't implied that there is uncertainty regarding the fate of season 2. Lastly, without a confirmed premiere date (nor a vague timeframe, e.g. "January 2024" or "first/second half of 2024" or "Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter 2024" or simply "2024") labeling the series as "present" is deliberately misleading readers. I believe it's important to adhere to Wikipedia's policy on WP:CRYSTALBALL instead what I'm interpreting and/or presented is that it's okay to ignore this policy because it's a joke. Playing with CRYSTALBALL and assuming that the series's season 2 will definitely premiere within 12 months period, and if it doesn't, 12 months later, we then go back to remove the "present" from last_aired make zero sense, even the examples provided showing it's against the spirit of CRYSTALBALL policies and/or Infobox television/doc with some examples even explicitly having an exact timeframe written in the article itself on the next airing in which is beyond the 12 months stipulation. So does this implied to me that WP:IAR applies since the super duper inconsistency in application, and no there wasn't discussion on neither of the examples' talkpage. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 07:44, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

What is stated in the docs is in need of a serious rewrite because it is probably the single most misinterpreted item in the infobox and leads to all kinds of wasted discussions. The "12 month rule" is not a rule - it's a guideline so that we do not end up with something stating "present" in perpetuity. There is absolutely nothing that precludes slapping a date in there at the end of a season, especially if no new episodes have aired in more than 12 months. The only thing that is a rule is that we do not put in a future date.

Keep in mind, the point of the infobox is to summarize what's in the article in prose. This is a prime example for how this is intended to be used. If there is an announced season, discuss it in prose. If there's uncertainly, the article should address it. Anything that's in the infobox - including what's in the last_aired date parameter - should be reflected in what the article says. ButlerBlog (talk) 13:33, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
