COI Editor adding non-encylopedic tone
editA COI editor has been trying to add to this article, unfortunately the editor cannot see how the unencylcopedic tone of the edits is inappropriate. This specific line seems to be the most egregious, but is not the only one. “Flippin’s schools, churches, Masonic Lodge, bank, hotels, stores, mills, and factories once contributed to the quality of life in this community and County; only two churches remain today. Flippin is a residential village and farming community with few visible clues of its prolific past."--VVikingTalkEdits 14:38, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
The offending statement has been edited to the following, an even simpler summary statement of fact: “Today, Flippin is a small residential village and farming community. Flippin’s schools, churches, Masonic Lodge, bank, hotel, service station, stores, mills, and factories are gone except for two churches: Indian Creek Baptist Church and Flippin Church of Christ.” I believe this summary statement is as neutral if not more so than many articles found in Encyclopedia Brittanica, as well as Wikipedia. As for a conflict of interest, I leave it to the reader to decide: I have nothing to sell. My only interest has been to document (with accurately cited references) the history in miniature of a place and its various place names. I happen to have grown up in this place, and happen to be familiar with its history. This does not ipso facto amount to a conflict of interest. Ihave cited established and unrelated reference sources for all content. Admittedly, the content is selectively succinct to accommodate Wikipedia; referenced sources offer a more extensive treatment, if desired. I trust this meets the editorial standards of Wikipedia. Flippin Kentucky
editDue to COI contentions, I have removed my original text additions and reverted this to the original stub article, except for a NOTE that addresses a documented error in GNIS about a mistakenly attributed alternate historical name for Flippin. BlueLevelBoy (talk) 01:55, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
I have since added a concise history of this village and community, fully documented with footnoted references/citations. BlueLevelBoy (talk) 15:13, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
