Address

Revised to reflect new research: A September 15, 1913 Irish Times article mentioning the comings and goings of high society, mentions Miss Florence Culwick as returning to 62 Upper Leeson Street. Article is behind a paywall but here: https://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/archive/1913/0915/Pg008.html#Ar00807:A4D452A8F46C The Culwick Choral Society produced book states that this was her last address. Should this be used as her place of death, or should it not be mentioned as it appears she died in a hospital (or at last 'in the middle, reportedly, of lighthearted banter with a nurse.' Culwick Choral Society

@Citetic: and @SeoR:, looks like there is a book The Culwick Choral Society Celebrates One Hundred Years 1888-1998 aside from that it looks like some passing mentions in music journals or some biographical details on James Cooksey Culwick. @SeoR: and @Smirkybec:: Thanks, I got my hands on The Culwick Choral Society Celebrates One Hundred Years 1888-1998 and it was indeed published by the Culwick Choral Society, I'll get additional sources where available. I suspect a lot of information is only found here as it comes directly from their archives, in particular, dates of performances etc. It may be that many were also reviewed in newspapers. I'll see how I get on.

@Smirkybec:, great tip, thanks! @Citetic:, and great work, especially at this time with most libraries and bookshops inaccessible. For such bodies, it is often very hard to secure substantive materials in national papers or other serious independent sources, and ideally we would not have only primary sources. Here, in my experience, Dublin-based groups can miss out, as the big papers are often lacking space to detail events in mid-level or suburban venues, and even full coverage of national - and local papers, if any, are often poorly archived - while in a typical county there might be 40-96 pages of regional paper with details on even quite small events and groups. And Wikipedia, and notably some reviewers, are now tougher on citation / proof-of-notability up-front. But with understanding, I look forward to the outcome. SeoR (talk) 13:26, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
