New Uniforms and Categorie

edit

When can we expect the new uniform unveiled today to be put on here? And why is this part of the Miami project when they are based in Sunrise, FL? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Halofanatic333 (talkcontribs) 00:33, 24 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Season by season record

edit

Why was the season by season record removed? Other NHL team articles have them. Brandon W 13:12, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I put it back up, and don't know why it was taken down. Unless somone can give a good reason to remove it, I think it's best left on there. I also updted all of the stats for this past season and added a footnote that there are no more Ties, as of this past season.AriGold 13:19, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the addition of four citation requests to the 1996-98 portion of the article:

  • Stu Barnes was a highly popular member of the first few Florida Panther teams. This was not simply my opinion, this is fact, with the proof being in the immediate reaction of the fans, newspapers and radio immediately after the trade, but unfortunately there's not a paper trail. The further dissertation would have been the slope that the Panthers season took following that trade, but that would have been harder to prove. Neither 1290<MShtd

e Miami Herald or the Sun Sentinel web-archives back to 1996 but if they did there would have been source material for it.

  • They WERE questionable moves at best. Chris Wells never panned out and was out of the league two yers later and Kirk Muller, who was brought in for the playoff stretch, scored 2 goals in 15 games.
  • I'm going to assume "mediocrity" is the word in question for a cite tag. The first two years, in spite doing better than most expansion teams, they were a sub-.500 team that didn't make the playoffs. The 5th year, they were 24-43-15, which is bad enough to not make the playoffs, but not bad enough to be considered the worst.
  • Bryan Murray's tenure as head coach was a dissapointment on paper and a disaster for anyone who lived through it. So again, to say it didn't aid matters is a bold understatement. It's not an NPOV violation if it's clear this was a bad team we're talking about. The winless streak being a citation for that in and of itself. So to cite-flag it is like asking for a source citation that the sun rises in the east.

From Wikipedia's official guideline: The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. So unless you can provide good sources to verify these claims, they should not be included in the article. The {{fact}} tags let other editors know that references are needed. The other alternative would be just completely removing the sentences, but often it is better to wait a while to see if appropriate sources can be found. Also, it is unreasonable to state that there is no paper trail for newspaper articles about the trading of Barnes. They may not have the quick, 1-minute access like many online sources have, but trust me, sources can be found if they existed. --Muéro(talk/c) 17:02, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

And I did exactly what you asked me to do. I even went as far as to find citations that were in the preview-to-archive portion of the text so that it was in black and white. Based on that, there was no reason for the reversion. Wayman975 18:43, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I explained the reversion on your talk page. --Muéro(talk/c) 19:29, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nieuwendyk & Gelinas

edit

Concerning future edits, with Nieuwendyk often injured/day-to-day; is Gelinas wearing an 'A' only in Nieuwendyks' absence? Or is Gelinas a 'fifth' alternate captain for the Panthers? (five alternates on a team are uncommon, though possible). GoodDay 15:57, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

It think I may have jinxed Nieuwenyk, with this edit question. Joe Nieuwendyk has announced his retirement today. GoodDay 01:57, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Florida-alternate.gif

edit

Image:Florida-alternate.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:38, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

NO jersey section. This is important for a professional sports team. Also, the team mascot needs to be mentioned. Another thing is that their one and only Stanley Cup run is not detailed enough, imo. That post-season section (1996) needs to be larger and filled with more passion. Love each other, or perish. ~Auden 00:56, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Florida Panthers

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Florida Panthers's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "SI":

  • From Dany Heatley: "A Sadness In Atlanta". Sports Illustrated. 2003-10-13. Retrieved 2010-09-06. {{cite news}}: Italic or bold markup not allowed in: |publisher= (help)
  • From Winnipeg Jets: "A Sadness In Atlanta". Sports Illustrated. October 13, 2003. Retrieved November 6, 2011. {{cite news}}: Italic or bold markup not allowed in: |publisher= (help)

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 04:22, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Can the logo be replaced by SVG version found from NHL website? There are SVG versions of all teams if you just change FLA to another teams abbreviation. http://cdn.nhle.com/nhl/images/logos/teams/FLA_logo.svgz — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.250.162.12 (talk) 16:25, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

New uniforms

I created a version of the new uniforms for the Hebrew version of this article. Feel free to use it. Keep in mind that Hebrew is written right to left, so the order of the home and away uniforms is reversed. Tdunsky (talk) 14:36, 30 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
