Merge: I do not think everyone who craves food has an eating disorder per say. Certainly a lot of cravings have psychological origins, but not to the point where it impairs health. Joe Schmit 05:22, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

While some eating disorders may be associated with food cravings, a food craving in and of itself is NOT a signal of an eating disorder. Most people experience food cravings ranging from weak to intense during their lives with few to no ill effects. -- NO —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.215.251.9 (talk)

less than a stub

edit

This article is a waste. What little information is in it is an inaccurate, untrue oversimplification. It doesn't even consider the important question that one might consult an encyclopedia for: nutritional basis for food craving as well as the body's uncanny response that somehow identifies a food item, possibly by association. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.171.103.5 (talk)

I agree, there are many more aspects to this phenomenon, and a healthy component as well, when the body tells you what it needs by food cravings. However, this is all not very well illuminated by scientific measures so any article about this is likely to become a stub. In fact, science doesn't know jack about individual nutrition, appetite and what can go wrong so, women's magazines can come up with new ridiculous BS diets every week without being accused of effing their subscribers in the A. There is no exact science of nutrition at all and that's the most exploited misunderstood fact of them all.80.171.71.118 (talk) 20:26, 16 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Chocolate

edit

Added "chocolate craving" section because some statements about chocolate craving in this article are very poorly supported by good references. As already mentioned this article is very inaccurate so I did not spend to much time on this article. Would be a good start to get rid of the false statements about chocolate. Medical/journal citations needed

edit

This article relies almost completely on single citation from an encyclopedia article. This is a great start, however, many of the topics raised in this article are based in medical science and need to be supported with current peer-reviewed research/journals. –TheIguana (talk) 02:35, 7 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sections for different types of craving

edit

I suggest adding sections or lists for different types of food cravings and possible (medical) reasons. Like for example craving for salt which can be linked to diseases like Morbus Addison or Diabeted Insidipus.

I myself though won't do that cause I'm no professional and this is a topic a professional should look at. Destranix (talk) 10:53, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
