Wanstead Flats

edit

Is it fair to say that this is in Forest Gate? The Newham/Redbridge boundary runs between the two (even if the misleadingly named Wanstead Park railway station is on the Newham side) and one does get a strong sense of two very different areas when crossing between them. The Wanstead Flats page is in Category:Redbridge whereas here is Category:Newham. Timrollpickering 11:37, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ah yes, just been studying a local map and it does seem that the Flats are not part of Newham at all. I'm just trying to work out if Forest Gate itself crosses over into them. I always assumed it was because of the road sign saying Forest Gate on it which was planted in the Flats near Capel Road [1]. This map seems to show the borders well, hence showing why the sign is where it is [2]. Shame on me for not knowing my area better! ;-) I think any references to Wanstead Flats being a part of Forest Gate and the image should be removed. Any thoughts? The article on Wanstead Flats describes Forest Gate as being a place to the south. Certainly it feels like a distinct adjacent area. I'd presume the formal definition of Forest Gate may be the two wards on Newham Council. Complicating matters further the E7 postcode is generally considered to be "Forest Gate" but it crosses the border into Waltham Forest and may nominally cover part of Wanstead Flats as well (although not anywhere with an address). Indeed, I live near this 'border' and know someone down the road who lives in the Waltham Forest part, although a little further on from there we move into the E11 postcode. Neilius 13:42, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Schools?

edit

What's going on with those recent edits about local schools? Should we put a list of local schools up here? Is this an attempt at that or some kind of vandalism? Regards Neilius 13:35, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Shooting

edit

One of WordPress's most popular blog entires today talks about a Forest Gate shooting. Does anyone know anything worth adding to Wiki? (FYI The blog entry is here: http://inspectorgadget.wordpress.com/2006/08/02/a-few-good-men-part-ii-well-well-well/ and it is ranked #3 in popularity on WordPress at present. This is to say - it might be significant information to post.) --Spesek 18:38, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd add that to the article 2 June 2006 London terror raid . Neilius 21:04, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Music

edit

Sarah Jezebel Deva is not a Hip-Hop artist as this article suggests, but a METAL musician! Just check out her own article! I'm editing that section! Also, why should Ill Manors, being a film, be mentioned in the MUSIC section?! MammonI.Dumah (talk) 18:02, 28 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Merge school

edit

I have suggested that Grangewood Independent School should be merged to here as it seems to be a non notable primary. Any comments appreciated . CalzGuy (talk) 22:07, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Oppose merge; Forest Gate has "has never been an administrative unit" and so the target is inappropriate. Klbrain (talk) 18:36, 25 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
